Summary

This was a great book it compared our relationship with God with that of the family pet and showed how regardless of what we do in life both will love us anyway.

Personal Reaction
I had a Boxer mix he died young from a disease I’ve never heard of but he loved my unconditionally. Whenever I came home from work he would jump up on me and lick me until his tongue couldn’t move anymore.

Classroom Extension Ideas:

1. Have the kids tell a story about their family pet.
2. Have the children draw a picture of how the book made them feel.

A fantastic little book comparing God to dogs. Like dogs, God is sad when we go away, happy to see us return and loves us unconditionally.

God and Dog is a little picture book with a big message. Taking the words god and dog, and showing how one can be reversed to spell the other. The emphasis is on how both God and your dog will be there when needed, even when they aren’t the main focus of our busy lives. Both show unconditional love and forgiveness. A very touching read, and one I hope to share with my children again and again. The illustrations are beautiful. My children were instantly drawn in by the adorable black and white pup on the cover. I’d recommend this one to dog lovers, and anyone looking for a little spiritual pick me up. This would make a great addition to any home or church library.… (más)

In this little book the author is able to express the unconditional love of Dog and God, a book written so simply with beautiful illustrations and sparse wording, but with a powerful message that will touch your heart and make you profoundly thankful for the companionship of the dogs who love you, after all they are our furry children, and I for one know my life is much richer because of the animals that share it.

I think this book is appropriate for all ages and and would make a great gift for someone who has just gotten a pet or who has perhaps lost a pet.

Combining the love of Dog and God is a winning combination and I will definitely be purchasing a few of these for my friends!
