In the first Sons of the Zodiac novel, immortal warrior Brody Talbot is on an archaeological dig in Egypt. Ten thousand years ago, he swore to Themis, the Greek goddess of justice, to protect humanity, and in exchange she gave him a wide range of supernatural gifts, so he could serve as a Warrior. Now, he needs to discover the ancient prophecy that surrounds five mysterious, magical stones. After two people on the dig team are murdered, he finally uncovers the meaning of the prophecy and seeks out the Chosen One, the one person who can control the stones.
Museum curator Ava Harrison hates the Summoning Stones, especially the one in her exhibit. After she’s attacked and then rescued by a gorgeous man with lots of secrets, she knows her life will never be the same.
I couldn’t connect with Ava and Brody, but I enjoyed the secondary characters, especially Quinn—the sexy, stubborn computer guy who tries to run the Warriors’ operations. I didn’t notice any typos—that’s always a plus—but the pacing was slow at times, and some of the scenes needed more description. I think the book would’ve worked better as a novella. The plot about the magical stones was definitely interesting, but it just needed to be tighter.

Walker is a lawyer up in Alaska and he's working with Sloan's best friend, Grier, in an inheritance battle with Grier's half-sister. It sounded interesting but I was disappointed.
The book doesn’t just focus on one couple but a lot of other couples. The main couple is Sloan and Walker but the reader doesn’t see a lot of them until a little past the midway point of the book. The author decided to introduce readers to Grier and Mick, Avery and Roman, and Jessica and Jack instead of focusing on Sloan and Walker. There’s romance hinted at with Julia and Dr. Cloud, plus Amanda and Skate. So, the other books of the series are pretty much ready to go with little other romances intertwined. All I kept thinking was ‘Where the heck is Sloan and Walker, the couple in THIS book?’ We even get a sex scene with Grier and Mick before we get one with Sloan and Walker. The author wrote the POV shifts correctly, meaning she started a new chapter or used a scene break to change POV, but I don’t like reading books in minor characters’ POVs when the main couple is ignored.
I couldn’t connect well with any of the characters because the author kept jumping from heroine to heroine, hero to hero, for me to understand and fall in love with any set couple. I also didn’t like how ALL the characters kept secrets from each other. I understand creating suspense for the reader but, by the time some of the secrets were revealed, I just didn’t care anymore or I’d already guessed it.
The book is repetitive. The same characters kept saying the same thing, thinking the same thing and using the same excuse as to why they shouldn’t do something. And I didn’t understand the rules behind the bachelorette competition/bachelor auction. Rules were hinted at but not fully explained even as the festivities happened. Maybe I just missed it as I read.
What I liked about the book was the nosy grandmas and the town’s inhabitants. Indigo, Alaska sounds like a wonderful place to live. Even though it’s freezing, it’s warm with company and love. I thought it was weird, however, that the grandmas who are in their sixties or seventies and a few other older people dropped the F-bomb as if it was no big deal. Just didn’t make sense.
The book was very well written with no typos, which is a breath of fresh air for me since I’ve read a lot of books lately with typos and grammar issues, and I like the author’s style of writing. I just didn’t like that she included so many characters with their own stories in book 1 of the series.
3 Stars

Forget Me Not Cowboy by Addison Fox
2nd in the Rustlers Creek series. Contemporary romance. Partial amnesia troupe mixed with second chance. Best read as part of the series to avoid spoilers from the first book. The couple from the first book are present and involved.
Harper returns home to start a business with her sister . Having her ex there isn’t something she can ignore. Especially after he’s hurt and he doesn’t remember their split.

There are several story lines running through this novel from both the hero and heroine and they partially merge as the couple comes together after his accident.
Angst and the lack of communication seem to be the series standard. Some readers like angst. There were health reasons Harper couldn’t share certain things with Gray per doctor’s orders, and maybe that dictated what he would share too since he didn’t remember everything. He’s a good guy, or the horses wouldn’t trust him, right? It was clear they loved each other so I’m glad they were able to work things out in the end.

I received a copy of this from NetGalley.

The main couple are not together at the start of this book. They had broken up years ago and their second chance at love when the heroine returns back to their hometown and the hero ends up getting a concussion after an accident. The hero doesn't remember their breakup and only recognizes that they're still a couple. Will the main couple get their happy ending when the hero recovers his memories?

This is the second book in the Rustlers Creek series. The setting of this book is the hometown of the couple and how it changed after the first book in this series. The book provided enough information about the previous book for readers to not be lost. Along with the romance of the main couple, this book also has sub-plots that took up a lot of the story. It would have been nice if the book focused more on the main romance and not on the secondary situations of other characters. Overall, it's a good addition to the series and hope to see some cameos of the main couple in the future.

**Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the review copy. All opinions and thoughts in the review are my own.**
