Another very enjoyable installment in this outstanding procedural populated by the very best sorts of coppers (well, most of them). There's just enough flashes of comic relief in that about the time something disturbing happens in the case, something silly happens to one of the squad. The whole team work hard under budget constraints and muddy weather but are a really cohesive unit that doesn't get hung up on egos. It's set in an interesting part of the Great Britain, and has devious red herrings plus fantastic plot twists! Loved it!

I loved the first book I read in this series, and this latest book has sealed the deal, I'm a fan. I love the characters, the twists, the setting in Wales, and the cozy mystery feel to this police procedural. The novel is fast-paced, the writing flows well, and it's hard to put down. Honestly, if you're not into dark and gritty, this is one of the best police procedural series I've read in a while. Not as light-hearted as Hamish MacBeth series, but a serious contender for best small-town police procedurals.

Llangwelli, Wales. In a village of derelict cottages, about to be demolished, a body of a female is discovered in one house, and blood and evidence of occupants in another. Meanwhile DI Sarah Southall is sent to an attempted suicide. Southall with DS Norman and their small team investigate when a second body is found.
A well-written and entertaining modern Welsh mystery with its cast of likeable and varied characters. Another good addition to this enjoyable series.

A solid police procedural set in a small village in Wales, this book is part of a series, but it's the first novel I read by the author. The book can be read as a stand-alone but I enjoyed it so much, I plan to go back and read the previous ones in the series. I love the Welsh countryside as a setting and the murder mystery is fast-paced, keeps the reader guessing, but I was especially fond of the wide range of well-designed characters that make up the police team. These characters made all the difference between just another cozy mystery series and one that truly stands out as your next favorite. For readers who prefer clean reads or just not in the mood for more at the time, I don't recall any language and there were no steamy romantic scenes here, just a good old police procedural.

Llangwelli. DI Sarah Southall and DS Norman are called out to a crime scene. That of a possible suicide by farm owner Tilly Rotherby, found on the day of her wedding. But it soon becomes apparent that it is now a murder inquiry. The team investigate but the motive is elusive and the case becomes more complicated.
A well-written and entertaining modern mystery, with its cast of likeable and interesting characters. Another good addition to this enjoyable series.

This author is new to me but I truly enjoyed this procedural, and it's being number four in series really didn't matter at all. A good solid procedural with believable characters with all their foibles, an interesting part of the Great Britain, interesting red herrings, and fantastic plot twists! Loved it!

A nice twisty thriller with plenty of suspects that all seem to alibi out. Being the holidays I had the luxury of listening to this in one sitting. I have to say the audiobook was hugely entertaining because my mind was constantly darting back to sitting with my then 4 year old son and 3 year old daughter as they sat watching the exploits of naughty Norman as he got himself into one pickle after another in Pontypandy. The narrator sounds exactly like any number of the characters from Fireman Sam (UK version). So I was constantly grinning even though the detectives were seriously examining bodies and crime scenes. I loved the mix of old and new guard in this police station rumoured to be where all the 'useless' cops are shipped off to. Detective Sergeant Norman Norman (not a typo) and Detective Inspector Sarah Southwell were engaging main characters and I can see some of the side characters have potential to have really interesting storylines in the future. I will definitely be following through this series as I love a good redemption story.

A good follow up to book one. This one had me scratching my head wondering how everything was going to come together. I enjoyed this second outing with Detective Sergeant Norman Norman and Detective Inspector Sarah Southwell as they fight to get some respect and credibility in the face of harsh criticism from their peers in other precincts. I'm not sure if there will be any more in this series but I think I will part ways as I have a number of police procedural series on the go.

With DS Dave Slater on unofficial suspension he becomes the ideal officer to investigate a missing person discreetly. Unfortunately this is just the start of his problems. Soon he is joined by D.S Norman.
I enjoyed the mystery, thought it was well-written and liked the banter that existed between the main characters. So a good solid start to the new series

The story of how D.S. Slater received a suspension from duty before the start of Book One. A well-written story ranging from the absurd to probably rather bad events. But a good read.

In Tinton when a homeless man, Morgan, is burnt to death in a skip the police believe it to me accident. Ex-dectives Slater and Norman are not convinced, but they are also looking for a missing homeless man, Ryan. Without the resources of the police behind them can they really expect to solve the case.
An interesting and enjoyable crime story

The body of Miriam Daniels has been discovered in her flat. Is she a victim of burglary that has gone wrong or..
D.I. Don Henderson and his team investigate which includes D.S. Sarah Southall, newly back from maternity leave.
I admit I really didn't care much for the character of Southall, but still an enjoyable crime story even if I did work out the identity of the murderer.

Good story although D.S. Slater sometimes seemed a bit slow on the uptake. Lots of twists. Good conclusion.
