Hurst Equipped is a remarkable book in many ways and will appeal to most anyone with an interest in automobiles. It is both a biography of George Hurst and a history of the Hurst-Campbell Company. The authors have put together a portion of automotive history involving muscle cars and some race cars together with the history of Hurst auto parts that helped transform and sustain these vehicles. George Hurst lives again in this book as the rare, unique individual that he was. While the true auto fan will want to read every word, there are those who will ignore the text. However, this book will also appeal to this latter group who only appreciate a good picture book. It is beautifully done on quality paper with color pictures on almost every page. Black and white pictures are only used when the original was black and white as found in early magazine and newspaper ads. Many rare muscle cars from the 1950s to the present are shown page by page as the story goes forward. For someone like myself who has a minimal appreciation for cars, I can only imagine the enthusiasm and delight this book will bring the auto enthusiast. If you have a friend or relative that is into cars, by all means buy him this book.… (más)

A great addition for libraries with readers who are looking for biographies of innovative entrepreneurs. Like other CarTech publications, this is full of photographs that help illustrate the story and the times. Especially engaging for libraries in Michigan with readers interested in car history and the people in the industry.

Hurst Equipped: Factory-Special Muscle Cars, Speed Parts & Legendary Race Cars is a must read for anyone interested in the early era of drag racing and performance modification of cars. Although the book is thoroughly detailed with the history of George Hurst, his associates, and Hurst Performance, it is not so detailed that the average person would have a difficult time reading it. It is an excellent book for anyone who is interested in cars, creativity, and ingenuity. Reading this should inspire people to try new things and to perpetuate the next generation of mechanics, engineers, and anyone car crazy.… (más)

I received this book in the early reviewers club for librarything. I chose this book to enter for because my boyfriend is into muscle cars and fixing and restoration of old cars in general. I gave this book to him and he could hardly contain his excitement. I asked him what he thought of the book and he said It was fantastic he loved the pictures they were so clear and awesome, and really enjoyed reading some of the history of these amazing cars. This book is a must have for car lovers like him:) He said the pictures and articles within the book were like a really good magazine just much better quality. So this book definitely deserves a 5 star rating as a lot of car lovers are sure to fall in love with this publication.… (más)
