This is another extremely well written statistics text whose title really does not do it justice. The actual title should be “Everything You Wanted to Know About Rates and Proportions but Were Afraid to Ask – But We’ll Tell You Anyway and in a Form You Can Understand”. As with the Hahn and Shapiro book the chapters headings amount to a summary of the contents:

4. Determining Sample Sizes Needed to Detect a Difference between Two Proportions

15. Analysis of Correlated Binary Data

17. Misclassification: Effect, Control, and Adjustment

The layout of the book and the presentation are very logical and thorough and I have yet to run into a question concerning issues of rates and proportions for which this book does not provide an answer and/or guidance.… (más)
