college president - Biografía breve
- Tolbert Fanning was one of the early leaders of the Restoration Movement in the southern United States. He was the founding editor of the journal Gospel Advocate in 1855 and founded Franklin College (Franklin, Tennessee). Though the college was only in operation from 1845-1861 (a fire ended attempts to revive the school following the Civil War), Fanning trained the next generation of leaders in the churches of Christ in the south, including T.B. Larimore, E.G. Sewell, J.E. Scobey, and David Lipscomb, who revived the Gospel Advocate and made it the leading journal among the Churches of Christ.
He is listed in Ligon's Portraiture of preachers.
