I am a very seasoned consultant psychiatrist, based in London. I was born in the Basque Country, Spain. After qualifying in Medicine, I became a psychiatrist in England, where I have worked in many different settings, from the most exclusive private clinics to the poorest slums.

I have lectured in several universities and written many articles in the general and academic press, as well as 3 books. The latest is called “You are not meant to be happy. So stop trying!” (Crux Publishing). I developed an interest in happiness through my work in treatment-resistant depression. An article I wrote on this subject has been republished numerous times and translated into many languages.

I am married and have a young daughter.
