Another exciting read by this author.

Negative Content.

A female doctor offers for a male patient to stay with her for a night and then see how he is in the morning, and if he don't have any issues for the next forty-hours, she'd consider clearing him.(it's not a good idea for a man and woman that are not closely related to each other to spend the night in the same house, even if nothing happens). Him staying at her house is mentioned three more times later in the book.

A mention of the doctor thinking to her self that this was the first patient that she had ever invited into her home, or brought home to keep an eye on while they healed.

A mention of a mother having cheated on her husband, then left her husband and daughter to marry the guy without one glance back (before the book starts).

Trigger Warnings

A mention of a blood soaked sleeve.

A mention of a bad guy bleeding all over somebody's kitchen floor (no details.)

A mention of a mans past alcohol addiction.

A mention of a past witness having had his wrists slashed (no details.)
-------
A son says that he thinks he hates his mother, because she was so mean.

A woman remembers when she was young, hearing her mother telling her father that she hadn't wanted her in the first place. That her daughter was the reason she was so miserable. Her parents had her out of wedlock.

-Typos-

In the front of the book, the main male character loses his gun and doesn't know where it went. After running from a bad guy, it mentions the main male character gripping his weapon in his hand and was watching for the bad guy.

Conclusion:

First of all, the cover is really neat and has great detail. And the book was plum full of exciting and unexpected twists and turns that keep you guessing.

If I had to name what lowered the rating, it would be the main male, and female character staying in the same house, and the mention of a woman being pregnant before she was married.

I was not required to write a review, and the thoughts above are my own.

I was in the mood for an audiobook that would be (1) really easy to get drawn into, and (2) had a simple enough structure that I could listen in short stints without too much back-tracking required. And, Lynette Eason’s latest romantic suspense novel Double Take, delivered on both of those scores.

Lainie and James are both really down-to-earth characters with, quite refreshingly, nothing but good intentions. Each though, are scarred by traumatic experiences in their past, and so have a fair amount of emotional baggage to work through in parallel with trying to stay alive.

While the mystery underpinning Double Take kept me guessing, the chronological narrative is easy to follow and swiftly paced. Eason fills any down-time between thrilling action sequences with either cat-and-mouse psychological suspense or romantic tension between her lead characters. I love the chance to learn more about a character that I've met briefly in another book! Alana Flores was a secondary character in a Christmas anthology and now she has her chance to shine! Alana's hired to protect a little girl who's become the target of kidnappers, and she's soon involved in a "don't forget to breathe" adventure filled with mystery and intrigue!

I've loved the previous Elite Guardians novels so I was excited to read about the protection agency that's located in Savannah, Georgia. Alana is an amazing bodyguard but she isn't immune from the doubts that often plague working mothers. Is she doing her best for her son Rocco? Author Kate Angelo paints a poignant picture of the bond shared by Alana and her diabetic son, along with the struggles of a widowed father and his autistic daughter. And then, there's the growing attraction between Alana and Cash. Is a blended family a possibility?

This is a great introduction to the Elite Guardians Savannah series! I recommend Vanishing Legacy to all who enjoy Christian romantic suspense.

I received a complimentary eBook from Sunrise Publishing. There was no obligation for a positive review.

Brooke is discharged from the army and returns home to set up her counselor practice, where she meets Asher. When Asher arrives, it is discovered that there is a body in the office and Brooke and Asher resolve to figure out what is happening.
As typical of a Lynette Eason book, this story is told with compelling prose that makes it difficult to put down. Eason also wove themes of faith in throughout the book well.
However, I felt like too many characters were introduced in a short time and as a result, the story was more difficult to understand.
Overall, this was not my favorite Lynette Eason book and I doubt that I'd visit the story again for a reread.

What a thrilling ride from the first page to the last! I love Lynette Eason’s books, so when she teamed up with Kate Angelo for Vanishing Legacy, the first book in new Elite Guardians: Savannah series, I had to read it. It was fantastic! The suspense was nonstop as Elite Guardian, former LAPD underwater dive detective, & single mom Alana Flores risks her life to protect a sweet little girl someone is bent on kidnapping.

Alana is looking for a new start with her eleven year old diabetic son Rocco. She believes Savannah, Georgia will provide a more stable environment. However when she finds a young autistic girl hiding in her shed, she and Rocco’s world is about to get turned upside down.

Dr. Cash Thomas is a former navy, trauma surgeon trying to manage his busy ER schedule with raising his special needs daughter Penny after his wife’s death. When he learns she’s missing in a traumatic way, he does everything he can to find her. Luckily, she’s found safe and sound with Alana Flores. But, Penny’s not out of danger yet and Cash turns to the attractive, sympathetic body guard to help keep his daughter safe.

From dangerous car chases, to thrilling hot air balloon rides, to underwater discoveries, this book is one suspenseful moment after another as Alana tries to discover who wants to kidnap Penny and why. I loved the chemistry between Cash and Alana. Both are fantastic single parents trying their best to raise children with complicated needs. Neither one was looking for love yet they’re a perfect match.

I loved the depth of their characters and how much Alana overcame in her past. Both have strong faith which was beautifully woven into the story. I loved Rocco and Penny and how well they’re written. Rocco becomes a kind of instant big brother to Penny & has the magic touch when it comes to knowing how to help her when she’s struggling to communicate.

The mystery kept me guessing with several moving parts and subplots that all come together for an exciting climax. The motives for Penny’s kidnapping were surprising and unique. It’s a must read for romantic suspense fans! I’m excited to read more about these strong Elite Guardian women! I received an advanced complimentary copy from the author. All opinions are my own and voluntarily provided.

It’s another fun, action-packed romantic suspense from Kate Angelo and Lynette Eason. I loved the setting of Savannah for this new series and the new faces. Alana was a fierce protector with a loving and tender heart. Her son Rocco was a great secondary character with his thoughtful and brilliant ways. Cash was a memorable hero - a little helpless in ways of protection but fully capable as a trauma surgeon and such a fantastic father to Penny. The action was fast-paced and the plot held plenty of twists and turns. The sweet friendship that Rocco and Penny develop added depth to the emotional layers of the story.

This series promises to be another fun expansion of the Elite Guardians. I received a complimentary copy courtesy of Sunrise Publishing via JustRead Tours and was under no obligation to post a positive comment. All opinions are my own.

3.5 stars (rating shown may vary depending on site).

I've read Lynette Eason before and usually enjoy her books. It was interesting to have a hostage negotiator as a main character and to get to see her work as well.

I listened to this as an audiobook. I was very confused as to who Felicity and Tommy were and how they related to the story until the end.½

Lainie Jackson is the target of her ex-fiancé, Adam. Her instincts about him proved trustworthy. But it’s not possible that he could be after her since Lainie was forced to take Adam’s life in an act of self defense eighteen months earlier. Although her gut feeling is that it’s someone who strongly resembles Adam, she’s beginning to question whether he’s really deceased. She keeps insisting to herself and others that he is, but his family strongly believes otherwise. Meanwhile, Lainie’s childhood crush, Detective James Cross, is trying to protect her while keeping his feelings for her in check. James and Lainie have a connection; both having parents with issues that they can freely talk to each other about. But can James keep Lainie safe? Or will her pursuer succeed in destroying any chance they have of a future together?
Lynette Eason knows how to write romantic suspense. I was kept on edge guessing about the identity of Lainie’s stalker. Was Adam alive, or was someone impersonating him? I never did figure it out on my own. I like how the author made everything make sense in the end. Every character had a part to play, and when each part came together the puzzle was solved—and it was cleverly constructed. I was impressed by the outcome.
Additionally, I was interested in the progression of James and Lainie’s involvement. I like that the romantic element was a subtle part of the story; it wasn’t sappy and didn’t in any way overshadow the mystery.
Overall, this book was what I’ve come to expect from Lynette Eason. It kept me entertained, and the twists caught me off guard and added the element of surprise that made Double Take a winner. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
I had the privilege of both listening to and reading Double Take by Lynette Eason, thanks to the complimentary download received by Tantor Audio, and a physical book provided by the Revell Reads program. I wish to thank both sources for the free copies.½

With plenty of action to keep me reading late into the night, this novel starts with a bang and doesn’t let up the entire time. There were plenty of plot twists to keep me guessing as I tried to figure out the villain with Lainie and James. I was pleased to read that Lainie is a physician assistant (as I am one too!) and I liked her immediately. James, too, was a great partner and romantic interest, especially with his protective nature of Lainie. Their relationship developed naturally and I liked how they both had to work through trauma from their pasts in order to move forward. This series has started out so well, I cannot wait to read the rest! Highly recommended!

Do you ever read a romantic suspense novel and think you’ve figured out who the culprit is, but you have to keep reading to be sure you’re right? That’s exactly what happened with me and Double Take by Lynette Eason. This is the first book in a new series, so readers are in store for new characters, new setting, and new drama.

Lainie is in no way a damsel in distress. She’s strong and smart and driven, and not afraid to stand up for others. She had to learn the hard way what keeping silent does. When her best friend’s brother shows up at the hospital where Lainie works as a PA.

The two are thrown together as they try to figure out who is after Lainie. Is it her ex seeking revenge or someone else trying to make her think her ex is alive?

While I wouldn’t say this book left me breathless, it did have me questioning whether my hunch was right or not on more than one occasion. An entertaining read that kept me on my toes.

Double Take by Lynette Eason is the first book in her Lake City Heroes series. Lainie Jackson’s ex tried to murder her! Now, someone is trying to finish the job. This book was so intense! I was so tempted to just flip to the end to find out how it ended, just so I could get some relief from the stress and suspense! But, I didn’t. This story will take you on a nail-biting roller coaster ride!

I received this book from the author for my honest review.

Wow! This romantic suspense story has so many twists and turns, it almost makes one's head hurt. Just when you think you've got things figured out, you don't, or at least not quite in the way you thought, but then maybe you do, or not...and so it continues. Lynette Eason fans are going to be thrilled with this latest book, and it's kind of cool that she gave a shout out to fellow romantic suspense author Lynn H. Blackburn.

Laine Jackson is questioning just how severe her PTSD has become when she begins to see someone who appears to be her dead ex-fiance lurking about. She knows it can't be him, after all she is the one who killed him! Detective James Cross, who also deals with PTSD following his honorable discharged from the military, had always thought of Laine as just one of his sister's friends, but she had changed in his absence. Now he feels drawn to her, and drawn to protect her, but from whom? Reader's will greatly enjoy finding out the answer to that question.

I am very grateful to have received a complimentary copy of Double Take from Revell via NetGalley without obligation. All opinions expressed here are my own.

He’s Back?

Lainie is still reliving the night, 18 months ago, that her fiancé, Adam, tried to murder her. Only through the hand of God, and a string of miracles He sent her way, did she survive. And Adam did not. But now she thinks she is seeing Adam including watching her from the top of a mountain that her car mysteriously slid off.

Everywhere she goes, people are saying they have seen him, or she spots him herself. But when she tries to get closer, he disappears. Everyone is trying to convince Lainie that Adam is still alive, but she knows he cannot be.

As time goes on, more attempts are made on her life. She knows they are made by the fake Adam. What she can't figure out is why someone is pretending to be Adam, and why they want to kill her.

James, a childhood crush, is a policeman now. He has gotten pulled into the story, and is devoting himself to keeping Lainie safe. But the more they try to solve this case, the more evidence surfaces that Adam is still alive. The main characters believe in God, and share what that means to them.

This is a thrilling mystery, with red herrings, and a surprising twist at the end. Fans of mysteries, and well-written stories, will enjoy this five-star book.

Thank you, Revell Books, for providing Tickmenot with a book to review. Opinions are my own.

Many authors write suspense novels, and this book proves why Lynette Eason is considered one of the best in this genre! She stole my breath away with the intense danger, the non-stop questions, and the topics that are relevant in today's society. Who says PTSD is limited to soldiers or police officers? Can a civilian who's been subjected to death and trauma suffer PTSD also? Is Lainie Jackson suffering hallucinations about the man she was forced to kill in self-defense, or is there someone truly trying to kill her now?

Eason gives us memorable characters and a well-crafted story filled with twists, turns, and non-stop drama. An intriguing relationship between Lainie and Detective James Cross, along with an inspiring faith thread, make this a perfect read for anyone who also enjoys Christian romance. I found it hard to put this captivating novel down and I can't wait to learn more about these Lake City Heroes. Do yourself a favor and grab a copy of Double Take today!

So if you want an exciting read, this is it! Lainie Jackson is just getting beyond a horrible relationship which she thought was over to his death, when it appears he is back and after her. This is definitely a book that you do not want to miss if you are a mystery and suspense reader. You will definitely not be disappointed in this one! James and Lainie work together to try to determine what is happening and to keep Lainie safe. Lots of drama in this book! I am exhausted simply from staying up late reading this. But so very worth it! Can't wait for book 2.

Double Take was a fabulous read that made me fall in with romantic suspense all over again! 🥰

Lainie was a character I loved from the first page, a woman determined to live life God's way, by selflessly serving others.

Kudos to the author on a book well done, and a brilliant start to a new series!

Double Take, the newest novel by Lynette Eason, is going to be a big hit with fans of the romantic suspense genre. First of all the premise of the book is unique — how can a dead man possibly come back to life? Main character Lainie is sure there’s a trick because she killed him! But her deceased fiancé is everywhere. I spent a lot of my reading time trying to figure out the BIG mystery, as do Lainie and the other main character, James. Their chemistry is instantaneous, but it never gets in the way of the investigation. I really like that about this novel. Give me naturally developing romance every time. As I said, the mystery is huge — there are lots of twists, turns, and unbelievable clues. And the fast pace of the book kept me turning the pages, while staying up later and later to find out finally whodunit. You’ll be swept up in the surprises awaiting you! Eason also delivers a thoughtful book with deep spiritual truths seamlessly woven through the narrative. There is nothing preachy in Double Take, and I appreciated the family dynamics explored by both characters. Forgiveness and letting go of things we can’t control are important themes.

Start your new year reading off right with Double Take. Highly recommended.

Highly Recommended.

Audience: adults.

Physicians Assistant Lainie Jackson lived through a nightmare 18 months ago and it has come back to haunt her, when she thinks she sees her dead fiancé, Adam Williams. Someone wants to scare her and possibly wants her dead. But toying with her mentally brings help in the form of Detective James Cross, the brother of her best friend.
Exciting from the first page, this story was non-stop danger, difficult family dynamics, with the faith of Lainie and James being tested but standing strong. Lots of unexpected twists and turns kept my interest and I finished the book in record time. It held breathtaking scenes like I was watching a movie. A thrill packed start to a new series that is sure to please fans of romantic suspense.

HEART-STOPPING THRILLER!

Double Take (Lake City Heroes, Book #1) by Lynette Eason is a heart-stopping thriller! This is one of those novels that will take you in from the first sentence, and you will not want to put it down until you have read the last word. It is dynamic, entertaining, engaging, brilliant, and compelling. Eason has chosen her two main characters, Detective James Cross and Physician Assistant Lainie Jackson, to be realistic characters, and they exhibit vulnerabilities that enable them to learn the importance of depending on each other. While running for their lives, will they learn to run to each other? Do not miss this heart-stopping thriller!!

Buckle up! Get ready for nonstop action, suspense, romance and mystery as Lynette Eason weaves another fantastic romantic suspense story that’s impossible to put down. It’s the beginning of a new series and I’m so excited for more. Lainie Jackson is a physical therapist who was engaged to the wrong guy. Right off the bat, the book begins with an intense scene where we find out how Lainie escapes his clutches and he dies. Or did he? Skip forward 18 months later and Lainie is just starting to put her life back together. She gets in a car accident and thinks she sees her ex-fiancé who’s supposed to be dead. It’s clear someone is out to get her, but is it Adam or someone else? Detective James Cross has known Lainie, his little sister’s best friend, since she was a child. He’s back in Lake City, North Carolina working as a police officer after being honorably discharged from the army. When he meets up with Lainie again, he’s impressed with the intelligent, attractive woman she’s become. When it’s clear her life is in danger, he does all in his power to protect her and discover who is out to get her. I loved Lainie and James! Both had complicated family relationships and I enjoyed how they helped each other deal with difficult family members. They were so good for each other and so encouraging. I loved their romance and watching their relationship change over the course of the book. The suspense was so good! It was nonstop with so many fantastic twists and turns throughout. Just when I’d thought I’d figured out what had happened, I was thrown for a loop. It’s intense and I guarantee it’ll be hard not to read in one sitting. Now I can’t wait to get Cole’s story, James’ friend and fellow officer.
Highly recommend to romantic suspense fans! It’s an amazing start to an exciting new series. I received an advanced complimentary copy from the publisher. All opinions are my own and voluntarily provided.
