I suppose it helps to think something is a good book when it says what you think; but I have read books where that doesn't matter. This book not only has a thesis that is important (and still timely even after 20+ years), but it is also well written. The author knows how to write, and how to edit, and that makes a good book better. His research is solid, and his arguments are sound. I think it is an important work, and should be read by all policy makers, and most parents.
