What a charming book! Max's tale is well written, and I think it'll be a favorite of young readers and their parents alike. The photographs (also by the author) are outstanding, and they are woven beautifully and intricately together to help tell the story. I loved reading this book!

This is a sweet trip into ducks, animals, and nature. The tale follows Max Mallard (a mallard duck) on a short adventure. Young readers will have no problem sympathizing with him when he's separated from others and finds himself all alone. The insecure feelings are easy to identify with and will ring true with young listeners/readers from similar experiences. Max is a duck to root for and when he finds courage, it's inspiring.

The photos make this book. Animal fans will enjoy flipping through each one as Max and other animals come into the spotlight. It's nature pure, which makes the scenes enjoyable to sink into. Plus, there's a bit of learning about nature (subtly) as well.

It's a calming read with a lovely duck and makes a nice rear-aloud. I received a DRC and loved the dive into nature.

Through beautiful photos, this book introduces readers to various birds, insects and other creatures found in wetlands.

Every page holds a bright, beautiful and large photo of a single bird or animal, which can be found in a wetland. The name of the bird/animal is placed large at the top, making/ it simple to identify. There's one very large photo as well as a smaller one, presenting the bird/animal from a slightly different point of view. This gives the young reader a better impression of what the animal/bird looks like in real life.

Each animal then presents itself in a short but informative paragraph. These are written as if the bird/animal speaks directly to the reader and discloses some of its traits as well as something which makes it stick out from the rest of the animal world. These hold a lovely amount of personality, which makes them fun to read and gives the reader the impression that they're really getting to know the bird personally. This is a nice touch.

The only thing I was missing was an index which listed on which page each bird can be found. Otherwise, this is a beautiful, informative, and fun to explore read. I received a complimentary copy and enjoyed learning about the animals and birds quite a bit.
