Carrie Barefoot Dickerson (1917–2006)

Carrie's story is full of the colorful locutions common in pre-WWII Oklahoma. My favorite of her chapter titles is, "God made rattlesnakes, too [but he gave me the sense not to step on one!"] There are colorful characters, eye-witness accounts of the Dust Bowl era, and anecdotes that illuminate the Way of the Environmental Activist. Enjoyable on many levels and well worth reading.
