A most interesting Zombie tale, this one told by one of the infected. Imagine being a teen infected by a virus that can rot your brain and create nearly impossible to control urges to bite and devour other people. That's a pretty standard zombie theme. In this first of three books, however, Evelyn realized early on what was happening and made a painful decision to avoid her family to protect them. The virus doesn't seem to be progressing in her the same way it does in most infected people, as her thinking and emotions are relatively unchanged. After avoiding capture by agents intent upon rounding up every infected soul in her town, she embarks on a mission to rescue her friend who wasn't so fortunate. What follows involves meeting a researcher who is sympathetic for reasons readers will discover, plenty of nonstop action, gore, evading really nasty folks, a military plot, and an ending that sets up anticipation for the next book in this trilogy. It's good enough so I have ordered books two and three so I can follow her and those she's allied with to the conclusion.… (más)
