I am a huge fan of Young Adult fiction, especially when it is done "right" (i.e. it doesn't "dumb down" teens). With that said, this was a fantastic read that definitively did not dumb down anything! I really enjoyed the character of Emmeline and how she faces her hardships head on. She makes a great heroine which helps develop the story. It is extremely easy to get enthralled in this book!

In my opinion, ultimately what this story gets down to is good versus evil. In this story evil is portrayed by greed and control while good is portrayed by the innocence of Emmeline. Also, it wouldn't be complete without some kind of a love story, and that is exactly what you will find here! The romance that Emmeline experiences and one that I truly found believable. Some might say that Emmeline is naive, but I think that only adds to how real the character feels.

Again, my readers know that I don't like spoilers (giving or getting them lol), so you'll have to read to find out what ultimately prevails. However, I must say that I did not know that this is the first book of a trilogy (The Incenaga Trilogy) when I agreed to do the review! I am excited for that and can't wait to see what happens next!… (más)
