I bought this book when I was working as a commercial trail guide after struggling to give inexperienced riders a 10-minute "crash course" in riding. This book didn't make the task any easier, but it did provide some insight into approaching the beginner rider. Everything is meant to instill a respect for the horse and a safety-minded rider, not just a passenger. It doesn't focus on disciplines so much as it does sound basic principles: balance, communication, attentiveness and the like. You won't find upper level stuff here, but you'll have a good foundation. This book is written by instructors for instructors, but there's plenty of knowledge to glean if you're a solo rider, too.… (más)
