D. S. Alicia Friend is a criminal analyst who gets assigned to D.I. Murphy's team based in Leeds. Who are investigating the kidnap and possible murder of at least two females. The plot does move to the slightly bizarre but is carried by the two main characters. Overall an entertaining story.
Project Return Fire is the first time travel book that I've read since HG Wells in my early youth. The Special Forces team were investigating an anomaly in the mountains of Switzerland and ended up getting zapped back to early 1945 - only a few months from VE Day. At first it was difficult for the team to believe they travelled in time, but then they discovered a plot by the Nazis to return to 1939 and take action that will end the war and make Germany victorious.
I did find myself confused on occasion, but further reading clarified matters. How can this team foil the Nazi's plan and return to 2015? Will their actions in 1945 impact the future? You'll have to read the story and find out. The ending was a big surprise for me and allowed me to close the book with a smile on my face. Great job, Mr. Davies!
As a side note, the book is missing words in the sentences throughout the book. I don't know if it is due to a formatting error or not. They are distracting and should be corrected.
