This book contains some pretty basic and obvious advice on managing one's career, and starting a lab. But "obvious" here doesn't mean that this advice is bad or useless; quite the contrary: it is the most obvious things that require most attention, as they can potentially have most impact on one's career.

Overall that's a pretty useful book indeed.
