Bought this for one of the participants in the Top 3 wishlist RABCK. When I found this in my mailbox today, I was pleasantly surprised. I can't resist the temptation to read this little book before sending it on.

Review:
Lovely little book :-) I liked the drawings very much, as well as the left-handed writing. I guess my right hand would write like that :-) Because of my non-native English fluency I did find some hick ups in the text. Google translate or my dictionary did help with some, but even with that help there were some that simply did not make sense at all. (e.g. the one on page 42).

That's why I give it 4 stars: part of the humor or the clues went past me.

I first heard Ivor Cutler on the John Peel show, and Life in a Scotch Sitting Room was a revelation. Reading his book about the bizarrely dysfunctional family is still entertaining, but will never quite match up to hearing his voice. Gruts for tea anyone? The book is brilliantly illustrated by Martin Honeysett.

My all time favourite book. Wonderful story and Helen Oxenbury´s excellent illustration. I love both just as much.

A quite wonderful story about a boy who wakes up with a plum in his mouth which leads tthrough a series of surreal events to an experience of time travel. The story has wonderful illustrations by Helen Oxenbury.
