- Timothy Cruso of London (bapt. 1657 -- died Nov. 26, 1697), was "well known for his Eminency in Ministerial Abilities, and his great Faithfulness and Diligence in the Exercise of them, ... He was as eyes to the blind, and by his diligence in the use of it, he consum'd himself (like a taper) by giving light to others..." -(preface to his last 3 sermons).
He was a schoolmate and friend of Daniel Defoe, who is supposed to have used his last name Cruso, for Robinson Crusoe.
