Craig Crossen

This book is so good that it explodes the narrow-sounding title and the juvenile-appearing cover. Crossen is a fantastic writer. He manages not only to do a wonderful job of describing what can be seen in the night sky with an average pair of binoculars, but inserts what feels like a whole short course on astronomy in general (with particular attention to our place in the Milky Way). A beautiful job. As an added bonus, Wil Tirion's Bright Star Atlas is included at the end of the book.
