Eddie Creek

This is an incredible reference work. It is another winner in the Classic series, an imprint of Ian Allan Publishing. It is full of data, pictures (quite a few in color), closeups (pictures and drawings), etc.

Strangely it is number 22 in the series. The prior number was 18, for Volume 1 of the Focke-Wulf Fw 190. I'm trying to find out what is intended for numbers 19, 20 and 21. Perhaps the three unnumbered volumes on Messerschmitts (Bf 110, Me 210/410 and Me 264). Or, perhaps the two or three remaining Fw 190 volumes.

Pros:
The drawings from the Junkers handbook (however, they are in German). There is a lot of German.
The tremendous 3 view and profile line drawings, in 1/72nd scale. (Is there any other scale?)
The numerous sidebars on various personalities: Professor Hugo Junkers, Diplom-Ingenieur Flugkapitan Melitta Grafin Schenk von Stauffenberg, Oberstleutnant Hans-Karl Stepp, etc. Hans Rudel has 9 pages, with several other references.
German wartime maps of Poland on September 1 and 17, 1939.
On page 18, the Junkers G 38 (one of my favorites).
On page 250, the Bell P-39 Airacobra, the Hawker Hurricane IID (40mm armed) and the Ilyushin Il-2 Shturmovik. And the comparison table.

Cons:
I don't speak German.
On page 250, for the Hurricane IID, I believe that the statement 'each with twelve rounds per gun' is incorrect. While true for the Rolls-Royce cannon, the Vickers had fifteen rounds, thirty for the later versions of the Hurricane IV. See "The Hurricane Manual", in the RAF Museum Series (Greenhill Books, 2003), paragraph 8 in 'Addendum II - Hurricane IID and IV'.
I find the organization of the Index strange. It is oriented to people, units and ships. How do I find the entry for production data, etc.?
Reference data is not easy to find. How many of each version were built? How many were in service by month, or something? What units? And when?
The color profiles are interspersed.
The 1/72nd scale 3 views are interspersed.

Perhaps some moderate use and a few notes will lessen this volume's shortcomings for me.… (más)
