Not as much about womanhood shaping manhood as I would have liked. A lot of anthropological history of the penis: penis cults, penis mutilation, attitudes, religion…I found the biological evolution fascinating: no bone, no spines, etc. why? Female choice…but my over all feeling was one of…deep despondency at what turns out to be a planet of biological happenstance. Whatever works: bone no bone, spine no spine, rape no rape—it doesn’t really matter. It just is. It’s all…meaningless outside of a simple imperative to continue, to procreate. I feel like—that’s it? It’s…unimaginative and I find it depressing. This planet has not amounted to much and after all this we are going to willingly destroy it to boot.
