There is a viral pandemic that is spread across America. It is an outbreak of startling proportions. Not one, but two diseases are infecting our friends and loved ones. We have all seen the infected. At first glance, they appear normal. But once they begin to speak, strange and confusing words start coming out of their mouths. Words like treehugger and Obamacare, or teabagger and I didn't inhale. It is impossible to avoid people with the viruses, now revealed as Democratitus and Democratosis. These viruses are highly contagious and extremly dangerous.

But there is hope. John Cooker, MRI, has researched these viruses at length and has published this book in order to raise public awareness and help others identify those infected and explains how rehabilite the already sick. John Cooker hopes that this book will convince the medical community to takes this threat seriously and start researching the viruses more seriously and, more importantly, help aid in the creation of an anti-viral.

Cure your democracy is a completely unbiased view on politics. On the surface, this book seems absurd, a published, long running joke. But if you look deeper, and understand what the book is meant to convey, you will see that this book is a brilliant, insightful satire of common people and the world of politics in which they submerge themselves. This book is intended for Americans who have seen firsthand the level of absurdity people are willing to take the subject of politics to. However, people from other countries will be able to recognize some of the more prominent people in politics that are mentioned in this book. Targeting everyone from Bush and Cheney to Obama and Clinton (both of them), this is a balance but humorous view of American politics and, upon reading, turns constant and unending bickering into a source of comedy for your entertainment. This book will lift your spirits and will help cure your democracy.

Not quite to my taste in humor; the virus analogy was amusing in the beginning, but would have much preferred some real sociological explanations as the book carried on. Cooker has some excellent observations, and can write quite well. Perhaps an editorial decision to keep the virus thing alive... didn't really work for me.
I will be adding some more to this review shortly...

This satirical book on politics will leave you laughing and thinking at the same time. The author pokes fun by introducing us to the diseases "Democratosis" and "Democratitus". Depending on what party you identify with you have one of these diseases, more than likely. But, wait! You can cure yourself and those infected around you. Just pick up this book, it is laid out like a medical book that will lead you from the definition of both diseases, their symptoms and their treatments. Although I found it to be a bit on the wordy side it was funny. I was also able to see the truth in where our country is right now and the true need to work together for the greater good. Some may not appreciate this book if they are deep in the trenches of their political party, but those that are fed up with Government as a whole and know that change has got to happen will find it a fun read.… (más)
