Martha deMey Clow (1932–2010)

Martha deMey Clow was born in Columbus Ohio. After earning a BA from Smith College in 1954, she began a career as a commercial artist and architect. She stated in an interview in Science Fiction and Fantasy Literature, "I have always had a strong bent for science and math," which made her unusual among her female peers of that era. She credited her interest in science fiction to her father, an engineer. She was married to John W. Clow, an accountant, with whom she had five children. Her debut (and only) novel was the science fiction book Starbreed, published in 1970.
