This is pure pleasure, you turn each page in anticipation. Touching, funny and dimensions of Burns-Jones I didn't know existed. I wish I had caught the exhibition.

Being essays, moderately well-illustrated on the last years of the romantic studio painting tradition in British art, a period lasting roughly from 1900 until 1920, with a few dwindling echoes until WWII. This is a great idea which I would have enjoyed more with more copious illustration. It is a description of a sad time in the art world as the lights went out, nearly forever.
