As I began reading "The Edge of Forever" I was struck with the number of cliches, "baring her soul," "spit it out," "spilled her guts," and others. This and the manner in which the author gave his protagonist to escape from a certain situation, which was unbelievable, made me feel that I was reading an amateurish attempt at writing a novel. However, when I put those major issues aside, I was entertained by the novel. After all, that is a goal of an author.

For the plot, Michael Hansen falls in love with a woman he has met on two occasions. He learns that the woman, Cassie McMurphy, is being abused by her husband, sheriff Kyle McMurphy. When Michael follows her home because he senses that she is in danger. Kyly begins to beat Cassie and Michael steps in. He rescues Carrie and they leave the Reno area before Kyle can retailate.

In San Diego, scientists determine that the movement the earth has been doing is a prelude to something that could be worse than anything mankind has ever experienced.

Michael, his two brothers and their families must find a place to meet, plan where to go, and put it all together before the destruction begins.

The fast-paced plot had plenty of action. Michael Hansen was well described for the most part. He is a Rambo type character, strong but tender.
If the author has help with editing and has his characters act in believable manner, the next novel in the series should be fun.
