In this new adult romance Yasmin finds herself having difficulty dealing with the death of her sister Sofie. She has just graduated from college and has deferred a graduate school scholarship to work on a cruise ship to try to get closer to and fulfill some of the goals her sister had before she died. The love interest is her boss in the photography department and West has also dealt with the loss of a loved one. There are ups and downs, sharing and caring and an eventual ending that is satisfying. This novel is written in the present and told from the viewpoint of both Yasmin and West in alternating chapters.

I had never heard of “New Adult Romance” as a genre until I read this book. I merely saw that it was a cruise ship romance, thought of that old program I used to watch long ago called The Love Boat and thought, why not?

I found early in the book that this was a story of people from college sororities and fraternities enjoying winter break on a cruise ship. The main female character was Georgia who had recently gone through a break-up with some wealthy fraternity guy due to sharing with him a “secret” she felt he should be apprised of before they become engaged - a secret that is not revealed till much later in the book. Jace, her roommate on the cruise, is from the same fraternity as the guy she is recently broke up with. The interaction between Georgia and Jace unfolds naturally, the secret is eventually revealed, Georiga’s nerves are conquered and a resolution to solve the difficulty causing secret is found.

I decided that I should probably look up “what is a new adult romance” before writing this review to make sure that the book meets the criteria. In so doing I found that this story fills the bill 100%: right age group, plenty of angst, a problem or more to overcome, romance, sexual tension, and all the rest. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and look forward to reading the next book in the series.
