H. B. Charles is the master of the short, punchy book to help the novice minister. On Preaching is in that vein. By short and punchy, I do not mean simplistic or unhelpful. Quite the contrary! Charles' plain "every-man" advice is of the that all new pastors need to hear and experienced pastors need to be reminded. I am thankful for this faithful brother's contribution.

This book is a great tool to hand off to a young person considering ministry. I recently led a group of pastors - some well-seasoned in ministry and others just starting off - through a weakly discussion of this book. It was a great tool to help us dive into topics of discussion. The chapters are short. They read almost like Proverbs, packed with pithy and wise instruction. This book is a helpful tool in the Kingdom of God.
