I hate the trolley problem, the book is written fine, but I wasn't in the mood because the implications of the world irked me.

BOOK REVIEW

Zone four is what Neverland would be if the lost boys were all violent criminals and Wendy were a psychotic pimp.

"Guardian" (Prison Planet Book 1) is one book that definitely snuck up on me catching me completely unawares and reeling me in so fantastically.
The simple concept behind this story worked for me on every single level; totally satisfying my taste for the slightly unusual I do so enjoy in my reading.
I spotted this on Kindle Unlimted and thought it sounded right up my alley so would give it a whirl.
I was going in here slightly blind here as have never read anything by this particular author before.
Well, hey-ho folks, I am now super invested in this dark delectable sci-fi/romance series.
I adored everything about this imaginative offering set on the prison planet Rhodon.
This tale is told in dual POV and centres around Audra and Tyson and the events that occur after she selects him as a best-case scenario when needing a guardian to protect her from the other male inhabitants.
This was gritty and imaginative with such dark undertones that I found so mesmerising.
The chemistry between the two mains gave me such tingles with its profound intensity and at times deeply emotional connection.

His arms encircle me, a warm band of steel, and he brushes hair down my back. “I’ve killed for you, Audra. I’ve gone hungry. I’ve fought. I’ve ripped apart walls, and doors, and a transport shuttle for you. And I would die for you. But I won’t let you go, for anything less than your freedom.”

I also especially adored the addition of Maci Bishop; I believe it's her story next and I am really looking forward to uncovering more of this enigmatic girls past and future.
This was such a fantastic experience that I can't recommend more highly.
Every so often I get a little gem that I wasn't quite expecting that totally blows me away with its freshness and unique outlook.
Guardian was that jewel for me.
I'm gonna wrap things up here by saying I loved the old Snake Plissken, Kurt Russel films and this for me was like Escape from New York and LA but played out in space on an entire planet and with more of a romantic sexy element; whats not to love about this.
The possibilities with this particular series are endless and as vast as the authors very vivid imagination.
I borrowed this one with my Kindle Unlimited subscription.
All opinions are entirely my own.

Red Prison Planet Rhodon

Book Review

In most cases, the only difference between the guards and the inmates is the uniform each wears

"Hunter" is the second book in the prison planet series and I enjoyed this even more than the first if that's even possible.
This continues right after the events at the end of book one.
And this time we get to spend time with Maci as she is transferred to zone 2 as entertainment for the wealthy patrons of The Resort.
This book is a totally different ballgame than its predecessor each instalment having such a distinctly unique flavour.
So after accidentally killing one of the paying customers, Maci is thrown into the enclosure alongside fellow death row inmate Callum to be hunted live for the viewer's amusement by the deceased's brother.
Think Escape from the New-York / Running Man / The Hunger Games but with super sexy shenanigans and you'll get the basic picture.

Unable initially to speak the same language and despite some initial suspicion understandably on Callum's behalf; these two very swiftly bond; pulled together through there shared experiences and also through utter necessity each needing the others skill-sets for there very survival.
At the onset, their lack of spoken language maybe helping them to bond in a much more physical fashion.
Actions sometimes speaking louder than words.

.He lifts a thick strand of my hair to his face and sniffs again. Then he rubs it on his cheek and says a word I hope means soft. Or pretty. Or something complimentary. Anything other than, “After I kill you I’m going to eat your flesh, shave your corpse, and wear your hair as a braided trophy.” Because that would definitely be a mood killer..

What I also loved about this was that though Callum was ultimately the muscle Maci was also no slouch when it came to saving her own butt.
Lacking the physical strength she uses other weapons in her vast arsenal and in a way it's her actions that change the course of her and Caluums eventual fate.
I also really liked the Callum was secure enough in his own masculinity to appreciate and be impressed by the skills Maci herself brought to the table.

I stare at Maci in awe. Shaw may have thought he was putting her in here to die, but all he’s really done is arm the little tech-ninja with her weapon of choice. My little hellkitten is crazy smart. She’s just used the warden’s own security system against him.

I also adored how blunt and Alpha Callum was while still managing to convey his affections towards Maci. He was a typical male sometimes not thinking to just express himself verbally expecting Maci to be a bloody mind-reader.

I already told you, hellcat. You’re mine. I’m yours. If that weren’t true, I wouldn’t be here. I wouldn’t have come after you in the enclosure. I wouldn’t have given myself up. I wouldn’t have escorted thirty whining women through the woods in the middle of the night. I’m sorry if it didn’t occur to me to actually say the words, but Maci, I love the hell out of you.

I absolutely adored the overall execution here especially the epic finale we are treated to when Maci goes all GI Jane on their butts. Sometimes the Damsel needs to rescue the prince; loved this so much it was totally epic.
And Callum himself may not be all hearts and flowers but he does express himself with such heartfelt individuality that I just couldn't help falling for this deadly prison inmate.

Hell yes, you belong to me,” he growls. “And not in that ‘prison dibs’ kind of way. You belong to me like my own fucking hand belongs to me. Like you’re a part of me. And I will fuck up anyone who tries to sever you from me.

See such a way with words has Callum; how could you not bow down and just appreciate his pure masculine yumminess.
There is just so much here to adore and while this has some serious life and death struggles it is also filled with some terrific one-liners and tongue in cheek humour.
Everything thing about this book just worked for me on all levels and I'm am so looking forward to the next exciting instalment I really can't recommend this series enough.
I accessed Hunter (Prison Planet Book 2) with my Kindle Unlimited subscription.
All opinions expressed are entirely my own.
