Enemies to lovers mixed with Best friend’s sister (sort of).

Remy and Jax have been best friends for as long as anyone can remember. But no matter what everyone else initially thinks of their closeness, they’ve always seen each other as siblings. So when Remy needs a place to stay until her new apartment is ready, Jax is more than happy to let her stay in his room while he’s out of town. The only problem is Jax’s roommate, Tristan, who she hates. And who hates her in return. Jax makes the two promise not to kill each other while he’s gone. Things are rocky at first, but Tristan and Remy soon realize there’s an unexpected attraction between them. Neither of them are looking for a relationship, but once real feelings come into play, they have to wonder if maybe they don’t hate each other so much after all.

Tristan and Remy were a fun pair to get to know. They really prove that there’s a thin line between love and hate. I love how it was more than just sex between them. They actually took the time to get to know each other and realize their initial opinions of each other were just wrong. They did get annoying when the usual “misunderstanding” happens. They were both so stubborn and suffered needlessly. But it all worked out in the end and they got a sweet HEA. This was a pair I was happy to see end up together because they were perfect for each other. I’m excited to see Jax get his HEA in book 2.

Jax and Hailey had known each other most of their lives. But where Jax was always only best friend to Hailey’s older sister Remy (from book 1), Hailey had more of a crush on him. In book one we see Hailey in a terribly toxic relationship. And all her friends couldn’t wait for her to get out of it. When she finally has enough, she runs straight to Jax. And things change between the two. Suddenly Hailey is with a man who knows how to treat her like the queen she deserves to be. But when Hailey has issues adjusting to regular male/female interactions, her relationship with Jax suffers.

This book was a very steamy romance, but at the same time an important journey for Hailey. She had to get out of an emotionally abusive relationship and re-learn certain things about men. It wasn’t easy for her at times, and at the end of the day she had to learn to do it for herself and not for Jax.

A lot of sex in this book. A lot. Like I said, it was very steamy. I actually started just skimming the love scenes after awhile. But it was a good romance overall.
