In this fairy tale the fairy princess is rescued by the fairy prince in the first chapter, but instead of living happily ever after they have to deal with the attacks, confusion and loss caused by evil fairies. Most of us think of fairies as peaceful, caring ,non- violent creatures, who are emissaries of the good. Lea Carter's novel for young adults describes how a fairy kingdom is threatened by rebellion of nobles eager for more money and power. Contrary to most fairy tales, this one is told by Her Royal Highness the fairy princess Rebecca in the first person singular, providing a unique point of view.

So far the premise is presented in an original, allegorical way. As the story progressed I kept wondering if it was really necessary to make the protagonists fairies, because they were so human and not deeply developed as fairies. Apart from flying, injuring wings, riding dragonflies and longevity, I didn't see many fairy characteristics or signs of a specific fairy culture and norm set.
The fairy idea has another problem; young adults may consider a book about fairies to childish, despite the fact that these fairies fight, imprison and kill.

I read this book in one sitting, and I enjoyed it, but I am an adult. I am going to ask one of the students at the school where I work as a librarian to read this book and tell me what they think. A book for young adults needs to be tried on a member of its target audience.

I won this book in a give away.

I was a bit unsure about starting my Silver Sagas adventure so far into the series. However, the book was written with someone like me in mind. I didn’t feel as if I was missing vital parts of the story. Heartwood is capable of being read as a stand-alone. Afterwards, I was left with a need to read the next book, as well as a desire to catch up on the first six.

My introduction to Fairydom was fascinating. Each tribe is like a world of its own. Different foods, different cultures, and different occupations. Of the four different tribes, the focus of this story was primarily the Wood Fairies. Unlike most fairy stories, most bugs in this forest are not friendly. They will not allow a passenger the comfort of being chauffeured around the forest. Dangerous and deadly, only the most skilled fairies become Wranglers trained to keep the tribe safe.

Winter is coming. Preparations have begun. Travel becomes impossible the moment air turns icy. For the next few months, home lies deep within the tree’s rings.

A trio of strangers appear at the last moment. A traveling troupe of actors have come to alleviate the winter blues. A new art exhibit is on loan from a different tribe. The pump house is full of rehabilitating Wranglers. Love is in the air.

I am glad I was given the opportunity to read this book. I do look forward to catching up with the rest of the story.

The second book is even more exciting than the first! "Check out" this new, exciting fantasy series, created with older elementary and middle school age children in mind! These are great chapter books and are good for Summer Reading Programs!

It is time for King Nathaniel to "step down" and yield his Crown to the next chosen King of the Silver Fairy Tribe chosen by the Council of Citizens. The King must have royal bloodlines. Since King Nathaniel only has daughters and only one is single, Rebecca's chosen husband will become king. However, she receives not only one suitor but three - the Council of Citizens will decide who. The problem is, Rebecca despises one, is childhood friends with another, but her heat belongs to the third. Will they concede to the decision of the Council and have to choose separate paths He is least likely to be chosen. The most likely, she will simply have to learn to like.

There are many events and procedures they must each experience to prove their abilities and qualifications to rule. Grave decisions must be made.

The book successfully progresses from one scene to another. There is plenty of action and adventure. This is especially interesting to girls. Rebecca has to prove herself an equal to the male population in many ways. The ending was to abrupt and although was leading to the next saga, was still too incomplete.

The "good guys" were very likable and the others caused to reader to experience varying degrees of like and dislike. The surrounding backdrop was very well portrayed.

The book cover is simple yet applicable. It would have been more effective if colored in silver.

Therefore my review of this book offers a Four Stars rating.

*This book was gifted to me by the author in exchange for an honest review, of which I have given.

The Silver Princess is a light, refreshingly "clean" fantasy, ideal for the younger YA and older elementary age group.

Fairies in this series are tiny like "Tinkerbelll". The live in many hidden areas around the world. The Silver Princess - Rebecca - was the youngest princess in the Silver Fairy Tribe Kingdom.

While out on her frequent riding adventures, Rebecca was thrown and became disoriented when her head struck a rock. Confused and disoriented, she lost her way and ended up in enemy territory. She was discovered by a stranger she was uncertain was friend or foe.

New adventures and danger awaited the young princess. What would her fate be? There was a very real possibility she might never return home.

The characters were creatively developed and the accompanying scenes were well portrayed. The Title was simple but applicable, as was the book cover. The "flow" was sometimes disrupted by sudden or incomplete chapter conclusions.

This is a great chapter book for older elementary, especially young girls.

I felt the story lacked energy. My review of this book offers a Three and a Half Stars rating.

*This book was sent by the author for an honest review, of which I have given.
