Little did Maggie realize how much her life would change when Simon, a handsome new customer in the restaurant she worked, seemed to recognize her from some faint memories in time. At least, Maggie finds an unlikely partner in the adventure when her distant cousin, Kitty, seeks a new start in life after quitting her job as a hospital ward clerk and needs a new home since her roommate has just gotten engaged. Kitty helps Maggie with a major project regarding Maggie’s Grandma, and Simon provides Maggie with a comforting relationship, but the fates step in one night when Maggie, Kitty and Simon are confronted by some drunk guys outside a bar, and during the scuffle, suddenly find themselves transported back in time to the period of the American Civil War. How are they to survive in this time, and how can they get back to their current time? This is a decently written, standard time travel fantasy with strong interesting characters within mystery and romantic elements. However, the story takes its time in getting to the time travel tale, maybe spending a bit more time in backstory than necessary. I felt the story would provide more of an enticement to readers of this genre if the first two chapters were switched, since chapter two gives the first hint of the adventure about to come. Readers will get a history lesson in this book, but I felt there could have been a stronger connection or involvement of the environment and history of the Civil War era that our characters find themselves in. When the mystery of what drives the time traveling is revealed, a major contradiction appeared to me, but then again, time travel tales do have to deal with paradoxes anyway, so fans of romantic time travel fantasies will have enough to satisfy them.… (más)

A very intricately written novel that really makes me get excited about every turn of the pages.

A story about the three people who accidentally went back into the past, 1981, and thrives hard to go with the flow without making the people suspect them doing illegal things. They experienced here how the people in the past fight for their life. How the hospital systems were and how they treated the people injured. How women felt violated by those unruly guys, who needed to be smacked a hundred times.

I really love this book! This made me feel my adrenaline moving fast as I get deeper into the story. It shows how people by that time think and how things work in the past makes me feel sorry on those who get an undeserving treatment from the other people.

From the characters, I wasn’t able to know more about some of them, but it isn’t destroying the flow of the story because the focus of the story is not about them but on Kitty.

I like the will Kitty got. Sometimes, I want to replace her and do the job to smacked those guys who don’t respect women. Am I already making a fan club here? Haha! Sorry, she is just really amazing!

Overall, this just made my day. I’ve finished reading it in a day. I’ve learned a lot from this book, especially those things from the past. Really recommended for those who want to travel back in the past.
