A Sweet Love Story

A fun and sweet story . Full of redemption, sacrifice, love and the obligatory happy ever after. A bit more vanilla than my usual reads ,but still charming

Don’t sacrifice for family. Great book. Similar to Romeo and Juliet. Star crossed lovers.

So I'm not going to rate this book because I should have DNF'd it from the first few pages, but I'm a glutton for punishment, so I kept reading. I greatly did not like this book because I am so against this weak, needy female lead who forgives too easily, and Alana is one of them.

Alana meets Ryan, they fall in love, and he takes her virginity, only to disappear the next morning. He's gone for 5 years when Alana sees him at a strip club as Jack the Stripper. Now, instead of leaving, she runs backstage to look for him, and when she sees him, she bolts the club. He, of course, comes after her. She wants answers, and he won't give them in the alley, so she agrees to meet him for coffee the next day. Ummm... he told you he loves you, took your virginity and disappeared, and you're going to look for him backstage instead of leaving and then meet him for coffee the next day?! Then when she gets her explanation that he got busted for his twin brother's drugs and was in jail for 3.5 years, but he never called her or looked for her after, she's all forgiving. I guess it's me who clearly has issues because there is no way in HELL that he'd get to explain, or even if he did explain, the fact that once he got out of jail but never contacted me loses him any chance he had at getting back together. His stripping job becomes an issue for her, but every time she brings it up to talk about it with him, he somehow changes the subject, and she just let's it go. She even goes to the club once, sees him leaving a back room with a girl who kisses him on the cheek. When she finds out that they kiss and do other things behind the beads, she goes back with him and they start going at it on a couch that countless strippers have made out with and had sex with customers. And even though the job bothers her, she continues to let it go and fall all over herself to be with him. Honey, have some pride and grow a pair and tell him that it bothers you and why is it ok for him to go to a back room and kiss and do god-knows-what with patrons at a strip club while you're home waiting for him?! Oh because he makes great money, and he's an ex-con, so he couldn't possibly get another job.

I had been looking for a stripper book forever, and I finally came across this book, so I was really excited to read it, and now that I have, I really wish I would have DNF'd it at the beginning because all it did was annoy me and make me mad.

Magic and love have always been linked with fantasy. In the past it was the dark brooding man that thrived off of townsfolk’s fears that fed his immortality; or the time altering Viking that saved the meek woman from a monster. As romance has grown, it has also evolved into something new. No longer are women defined by the traditional roles of the damsel in distress, but they are thought of as equals who are able to hold their own when needed. Men have morphed into characters that have learned to respect and support their partner, bringing both balance and romance to the table. More women are described as beings that thrive off of imagination and enjoy a good ‘roll in the hay’. However, they still love a good argument or debate. This book is about one such woman named Liv. She is a fierce woman with a sex drive, but disciplined enough to know her limitations. Gifted with the powers of a demi-god, she is perpetually burdened and blessed with her abilities. Known as a talented empath she is unable to touch the love of her life and must choose her sanity or her world. Escaping from her past she finds herself in an alternative world of magic and lands the unwanted attention of a pixie prince. Doomed to lead a life of unwanted attraction she must make some heavy decisions. Can she find a way to restore her relationship with her soul mate? Can she learn to control her powers and lead a somewhat normal life? Will she actually live until the end of the book or be doomed to an early death like her ancestors?

This was a very interesting book, but was a little hard to follow. However, I found the concept of the book to be refreshing and new. As I got farther into the book the more it made sense for me, but I have not read the first book in the series. I loved the sexual tension that was created between Liv and her love, but really respected how the author kept it classy. There was a sense of humor throughout the book and the other characters were very interesting. I have taken a break from romance for a couple of months now since it seemed I was reading the same thing over and over, but this book was not like that. I actually was able to enjoy the story and was not overwhelmed with constant sex scenes that dominated the book and made it almost uncomfortable to read. I like actual romance in romance stories and this book did just that. I highly recommend this book, but must stress that readers read the first book before they get to this one. I plan on getting the first book to find out how the story began. Great job author and I must thank both Librarything and the author for giving this book to me in a giveaway. It was much appreciated and well worth the time!

This is a first for me. Leaving a one star review. But I have to do it.

Where do I start?
The editing, or lack thereof, is awful. Too many issues to name them all. Sad, really.

The fact that the author wants us all to know she likes designer everything? It's a purse. A handbag, pocketbook, or a clutch. Not a Marc Jacobs. Make-up; it's eye shadow, liner, etc. Not a person. Also, jeans are simply that. Jeans. Who cares what tag they carry? I don't.

Overall, the story wasn't too bad, but reading in a stop and go fashion as new errors popped up, made for a long read. Normally, I can finish a book of this size in two days. This one took me almost a week!

I was given this book in exchange for an honest review.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It had a lot of twists and turns and kept me so engrossed I couldn't put it down. The characters are well developed, even the supporting characters. This being the second book in the series did have a lot of references to things that occurred in previous book. However, you could read this as a stand alone book. I am hoping the author pursues this story further.

I hadn't read the first book (or the third?), and sadly, the writing style got in the way of me enjoying it. I liked the characters until it was mostly Justice disrespecting Liv, essentially, and at that point I stopped liking J. Because of the writing style I personally didn't care about Liv and her inability to control her powers... but as a fantasy kind of novel, it was...okay.

★iFeel by Marissa Carmel (Vis Vires Trilogy # 1)

I won this book through a LibraryThing Members Giveaway in exchange for my honest review.

Huh?

What is this author talking about?

*deep end of the Caribbean- Defiantly the deep end, surely not the shallow end of the sea.

*Eunique grunts as he parts my hair.-If your hairstylists grunts at you, you might want to find a new one.

*Justice grunts disgusted-There's a lot of grunting going on here.

*he drifts comonlly to the front door-Really? He drifts how? Commonly

*Apostrophes everywhere they don't need to be, but never where they should be.

*I hanker for composure; barely withstanding the sensations that take to long to to settle.

*Retreiving my pointe shoes-50% wrong vs. 50% right, nice.

*You can't just put any two words together, and it be a real compound word.

I really don't know what happened here. Did I get a bad copy?
Maybe this is a horrible translation on an ESL book. The are random Spanish words, thrown sporadically throughout.

I don't know how I got through this book. Well okay, yes I do. I had to skim read most of it. I really hope this is not the version that is being sold. If it is, you might just want to save your money.

Liv has spent her whole life in hiding, feeding herself with isolation and pills. She always thought that she was insane and did not like going out so much and seeing anyone. Her best friend and even her own hair stylist tried to get her out of the house. Everything changes when she finally agrees to go over to the most popular club in Jersey and gets in some trouble. One thing she didn't expect is to wake in her apartment with no memory (or her jeans on), staring into a hottie's eyes that knows all of her secrets...

This book has been incredible from the very beginning to the end. The characters, mystery, and adventures were perfectly described and if there was even a doubt that something needs to be changed, it would not have happened. I was so sad that this book has ended, it almost made me call the author herself and beg her to give me the other two books in this trilogy. Every single page was written with so much excitement, it made you feel like you were the part of the Supernatural world.

This is the second installment in this Trilogy. I have read the first and looked forward to this book. Yet again I found Gravitational Pull hard to put down. Probably for the same reason I found Shades of Grey hard to put down- the main male character wants to protect our heroine, Liv and the intensity of a new relationship is skillfully treated.(fear not- no expilcit sex!) I also enjoyed the fantasy side- angels, pixies, cool powers! Other storylines within the main story are clear and add bulk and texture, the reader gets to understand some of the characters in greater depth.
There was the occasional clumsy sentence or paragraph that didn't match the rest of the writing and more thorough editing would have have lessened the odd distraction.Otherwise a compelling read!

I'm pleasantly surprised with this book. I can't wait for the next book in the series. I loved the characters. Liv takes control of things in her life and Justice is on my list of hot and my favorite YA male characters. I loved the plot and the authors voice. I can't wait for the next book in the series and if you haven't read this one then you are really missing out on a treat. Buy this book! You want be disappointed.

I really enjoyed this book and read it in nearly one sitting!! Lots of mystery and creation of a new world to keep the pages turning. I would have loved to read more about the Seraph world and I am hoping my questions will get answered in the next two books which I will definately read. My one doubt is that Liv gets left alone at her apartment at night and at other times when her life is in extreme danger so this didn't make sense to me.The romance is good, looking forward to the physical side being addressed!!!

This was one of the best books I have read in a very long time! It was a breath of fresh air. It put an adult spin on many of the young adult paranormal romances. It was lighthearted and fun and I couldn't put it down. The story follows many other fantasy stories where a girl discovers her magical powers when she crosses paths with a magical being. There is much more depth to this story though and the twists and turns keep on coming! The author uses such descriptive detail that I couldn't help but let my imagination take over. I was riveted and able to relate to the story in many ways, giving this book the ability to create a fun escape from reality. I will definitely recommend this book to my friends!

I just received this book from GMTA publishing.I am a fan of paranormal fantasy I love to read to get myself out of the real world. I didn't know what the story was about and haven't ever read a book by the author Marissa Carmel. Let me say, this book was like one of those suspense movies that you had to keep your attention on or you would miss something very important. This book was very well written in my opinion, it gave both enough and just enough details to keep you reading. I couldn't put it down I wanted more. I can't wait for the next book to come out.

So I have to say, I've never actually read or watched any of the works iFeel is compared to in the synopsis, so I'm not really sure how it compares, but I can say that it is an enjoyable read. Carmel starts off really strong, and throws the reader right into some action. The book is fairly fast paced, and I didn't feel like I was having to wade through a bunch of extra stuff just to get to the plot.

The main character Liv is nicely developed and I thought Carmel did a good job of creating a character that while she is anti-social and scared of what she believes is her deteriorating mental health, still manages to be confident, independent, and smart. Justice, her main love interest, is intriguing in his guilt complex and his determination to do his job as a Spirit hunter.

The plot was interesting and I thought the idea of the Spirit Stalkers was an interesting twist. The special abilities Liv, Justice and the Seraphs have are nicely described and I liked that they're still trying to figure out what Liv can do.

There were a few things that bothered me, though. Everyone is wealthy. I never figured out what Liv did to earn money, other than a reference to the family business, but there are lots of references to expensive brands of clothing, fragrances, and purses, along with frequent salon trips. The Seraphs, in addition to their beautiful house, are all gloriously beautiful and immortal.

The final issues was the editing. This really read like an early draft with lots of grammatical and spelling
errors. I also had some issues with the letter 'l' on my Kindle version. Most words with double 'l's came out with the second 'l' missing. I've had this happen before so it might be a formatting error in the Kindle's part, or on the software being used to format it.

Overall, I think iFeel is a great start to a series, and I would definitely consider reading the sequel.

First, I’d like to give applause to the cover of iFeel. It easily piqued my interest and it truly resembles what the book is all about. Great cover!

Unlike the other reviewers, I received my copy with little or no error almost, so I have nothing against the grammar thing.

Ifeel is a rather fast-read I think, I didn’t realize I was at the end of the book, until I felt that there’s only 5 or more pages left..lol- finished this in one sitting…

Ms. Carmel is a talented author who’s writing made ifeel a suspenseful book. Her writing style kept me turning the pages and see what surprises awaits me.:) I also like her sense of humor, there are a lot of times, I laugh out loud and there are also those I cried with the characters. The storyline, plot, descriptions and the emotional conflicts are all interesting and engaging.

I love how the romance developed and its limitations- a love story that’s too perfect is boring:D.
I also love the titles of the chapters; it made me curious as to what it contains. I love the varied characters, and the addition of vampires, spirit stalkers, seraphs, empaths and other supernatural beings the author hasn’t yet presented us and yet it doesn’t make the story complicated.

I think the only negative I could say, is that there are times when the chapter could be omitted, like it doesn’t necessarily need to be a chapter or it lacks action that would really grip the reader’s attention or it is sometimes too short and another thing is up until now, I don’t know how to pronounce Liv, :D- just a small thing actually.

Without the synopsis, I couldn’t figure out what Justinian’s family really is. The author make it vague, by letting Justinian said, that he could be an angel, devil, soldier or protector. This is a bad thing, since I’m frustrated to know what they really are and a good thing, since it keep me reading all the way, just to know, and would surely make me want to read the next book.:)

All in all, iFeel is a world the author created which is very engrossing. It’s still another YA book, but with a lot of twist. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series and find out more about this Vis Vires Trilogy.

True to its title- iFeel- this made me feel the depth of this book. If you’re looking for a new read but still in line with paranormal ones, then grab this one!
