The drawing style of this comic is quite different from that of classical japanese mangas. As story and art are by the Italian author Laura Carboni, it doesn´t surprise that the drawing style literally feels italien, to be precise it reminded me of depictions from ancient Rome. But there shouldn´t be any misunderstandings: I really like Love Circles and some of the drawings are quite beautiful.

The story is about Davide, a college nerd who is in love with a girl, who doesn´t seem to notice him at all, and Valerio, the campus stud. Valerio suggests a change in style and offers Davide his help with this makeover. The result is a complete success and Davide gets his desired date with the girl, but by then his heart doesn´t seem to be interested in the girl any more...

This is a yaoi made in Italy. Davide is the perfect good boy, he studies Laws at Bari University and lives alone in a small apartment. He has had bad experience with his former friends, and so he prefers to take care for himself and be as lonely as possible. But now he is smitten by a college mate, Catia, and he doesn't know how to draw her attention.

Valerio is another college mate of Davide, a very popolar guy, always surrounded by friends, like honey with bees. But he is also a nice guy and he decides to help Davide to change his looks, to conquer Catia's heart. But during the turning phase, Valerio begins to care a little too much for Davide, and also Davide loses the real scope of this adventure to begin to enjoy spending time with Valerio.

In the end both of them will have to reconsider their life and choices...

The story is almost an adult young story: Davide and Valerio exchange kisses like Peynet's fiancees, and the graphic novel, even if rated 'adult only', is very chaste in comparison to its similar japanes works. But it's very sweet and the style is very strong, very different but original. It's good to see something so characteristic, made by an Italian artist.

Highly reccomended if you like your yaoi characters very 'male' and less 'feminine'

Like U is the original graphic novel which later was translated into English with the title Love Circles.
