Informational
Dallas Cowboys
By Brenda Calamera

The book is an informational history of Texas’ introduction into the National Football League. The Dallas Cowboy’s did not have the flair start that they are noted for. In fact it took two tries before the Dallas Cowboys emerged into any sort of team. The first two tries started in Dallas as the Dallas Texans, until the evolution was complete with its current name the Dallas Cowboys. The 1960 team did not have the continuity needed for healthy competition at the time. The “longest season” was dubbed Dallas’s first season due to not a single win. All games were played in the Cottonbowl. The 1961 season started off with several great first round draft picks such as Bob Lilly, and Roger Staubach. Things started to turn around under the guidance and technique of Tom Landry.
The Dallas Cowboys was a team that emerged, they were called Americas team. They had talented personnel and the will to win. For the 60’s-70’s and 80’s the Dallas Cowboys were under the same tutelage and the team prospered. In 1989 the team was sold and all of the old was tossed and a new generation began with its new owner Jerry Jones. The Cowboys transitioned into what we know today; good or bad they are still the Dallas Cowboys.
The book was very informational for the football fan. The text was easy to read and full of interesting notable facts and statistics. People tend to think of the Cowboys of today. This book took the reader on a trip through yester year.
