I read this book a long time ago, but the story was gripping and possible being it was during WW II and many unbelievable experiments were tried and some with success and some were failures! The author takes us down the road of one of the failures and the consequences of the failure. The Philadelphia Experiment was a real event but the book is fiction and the author has a wonderful tale to tell! Well worth the read.

[Update, 6 Aug 2016... Masterful storytelling. Well worth the re-walk down Nostalgia Lane.]

Still entertaining after 30 or so years.

A better than average thriller. USNI Nicholas Hammond gets an unusual case of a former naval enlisted who has terrible nightmares about his service on the USS Sturman. As the case unfolds, Hammond begins to uncover a plot involving a failed set of experiments on the ship...and the crew. But it becomes clear that highly-placed people have no interest in letting these secrets become known, and are prepared to take any steps necessary to protect themselves. And the real story is more fantastic than Hammond could possibly believe.

There's a clever use of serendipity which makes the inevitable reveal a bit of surprise, but completely fair. Not a great book, but very enjoyable.
