This is an excellent book (i.e., a 5 on a 5 point scale), which is much more than I expect when I buy a book.
It covers all PT boat operations by the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Although it is an official history intended for Naval personnel, it is also useful for any reader.

It has 8 parts:
-- Pearl Harbor and the Philippines
-- Development of a New Type
-- Guadacanal and the Solomons
-- New Guinea
-- The Aleutians
-- The Mediterranean
-- The English Channel - D-Day and After
-- Return to the Philippines
There are four appendixes, as follows:
-- Squadron Composition
-- PT Losses
-- Awards
-- Casualties

It is objective and unbiased. It is well researched and illustrated with very good maps (charts).
I enjoyed reading the book very much.

Negatives:
It needs cut away drawings of the boats.
It needs more tabular data (boats of each type, more armament details, equipment, etc.)
… (más)

Okay, I confess that I didn't read the entire book. I just needed the chapter on the Mediterranean, but dang it was good. Bulkley focused on the problems posed in that theater, and the evolving nature of coastal conflict there. I got a great picture of the missions in the Med, and how those changed as the war progressed. Bulkley told great illustrative stories without resorting to the monotonous retelling the tale of every patrol.

Reccommended
