Georgio Gambino, crime boss, is not going to be stopped. He has kidnapped Sean McPherson’s pregnant wife and his friend’s daughters. Georgio has a plan! He intends on using these ladies for sex, slavery and their internal organs.

As usual, Laurie has created a great setting with the Pine and Quill in the Pacific Northwest. And don’t get me started on this delicious food served at this writing retreat. Add in these fabulous characters and this book is non stop! I am half in love with Sean McPherson. He is truly a nice guy and tough as nails.

The intensity in this novel just won’t quit! I swear, I had to take a breath or two in places!

This is book 4 of the Sean McPherson tales. It is not necessary that you read the others, BUT, if you read this one, you will definitely want to pick up the ones before this! To me, this is the best one of the bunch!

Need an all around good tale…This novel comes out April 9. Add it to your list!

I received this novel from the author for a honest review.

Sean and Emma are getting married. They have the perfect setting of Pines and Quill, a writing retreat in the mountains of Washington State. But, just as the reception gets into full swing an explosion rocks their world and threatens their new life together.

There is so much that I love about this series. I love the atmospheric setting of Pines and Quill. I love the dog Hemingway. But most of all, I love Sean McPherson. He is smart, kind and charismatic! And he has met the love of his life, Emma. These two are fantastic together!

This story had me loving the chase! I swear I finished this in one day! The intensity and the guessing game is on target to keep you glued to the pages.

I do think this is my favorite book out of the three. I do recommend reading them in order but it’s not mandatory. You can see my reviews here: Indelible , Iconoclast.

Laurie Buchanan amps up the intrigue in this new addition to her detective series. The moody Pacific Northwest setting is the perfect backdrop for this twisting tale of revenge. Behind the scenes, crime boss "The Bull" Gambino directs his henchmen to perpetrate evil on the residents of Pines & Quill, but ex-cop Sean "Mick" McPherson and his lovely (and unexpectedly kickass!) new bride Emma are hot on his trail. Despite a psychopathic dirty cop, a highly talented male/female impersonator, and multiple murders to contend with, the newlyweds are able to steal a few rejuvenating moments with friends and family at the rustic writing retreat, where there's enough hearty gourmet food and genuine camaraderie to satisfy anyone's soul.

Book Two in the Sean McPherson series takes the reader back to Pines & Quill, a writer's retreat in Washington State. Sean's sister, Libby, and her husband Niall run the retreat. Every month they host four writers at the retreat who want to spend uninterrupted time on their books. Sean, an ex-cop who got hurt when his partner was killed, is Libby's brother and working as a handyman at the retreat until he can get back into law enforcement. He's also living with Emma, a writer he fell in love with in book one.

Sean always picks the writers up at the airport in Seattle. As the book begins - we meet the four writers for this retreat. Tom is a veteran of Afghanistan who lost his legs, Megan is the owner of a French restaurant, Pam has recently had cochlear surgery and can hear again for the first time since she was a child, and Pam is a civil rights attorney. All four of them are working hard on their first books but one of them is not an author, instead she works for a crime family with the goal of killing Emma and, if needed, Sean.

The book is well written and the descriptions of Washington State make you feel like you're there. In a twist from many suspense stories, we know who the 'bad guy' is from the beginning. It's suspenseful to see the other characters gradually learn that something is wrong. I really can't say much about the plot because I don't want to give anything away. I will admit that the killer is one of the most ruthless and cruel characters that I've read in awhile

The plot moves along fast. The characters are very well written and are people who you soon care about. The descriptions of not only the setting but the food that is being prepared for the writers is fantastic. The author started each chapter with a quote from a famous author about writing.

I don't know when Impervious, Book Three in the series, will be published but I know that I can't wait to go back to Pines & Quill and spend time with Sean and Emma.

Sean aka Mick is back. I was first introduced to Sean in book one, Indelible. Instantly, I became emotionally attached to him. Reading this book was like visiting with old friends again. It is great to see how he and Emma, his fiancé are adjusting to life after the events of the first book.

What I like about these books are the unique cast of characters that are introduced in each book. This new cast was so diverse. Author, Laurie writes her books so that me, the reader is able to invest in the characters as well as the story. You can say that these books are very character driven. Sean does shine again as he tackles The Bull.

Once I started reading, I found myself reading chapters at a time. The story moved at a very good, fast pace. I look forward to reading the next book in this series.

Sean McPherson is on the mend after a sniper shooting which injured him and killed his partner. Sean is helping his sister at her writing retreat, Pines and Quill. When a killer arrives with a set of writers, it turns the calm and serene Pines and Quill into chaos.

I loved the setting of Pines and Quills. I could just picture the cabins and the wonderful view. Plus, I loved the differences between all the characters. No two are alike! This truly made for unique situations and conversations. Add the crazy killer in the mix and you really have a tale not to be missed.

One of the chapters in Laurie Buchanan’s “Indelible” begins with a quote from Mark Twain: “The difference between the almost right word and the right word is… the difference between the lightning bug and the lightning.”

Buchanan is masterful at choosing the right word. She takes us to a secluded retreat in the Pacific Northwest, where writers have come to practice their craft in an atmosphere of tranquility and genial comradery. They have no idea a killer is among them, nor who the intended victim is. She carefully builds suspense until putting the book down becomes impossible. “Indelible” is the perfect title for this memorable story.

This first book in what appears will be a really good series is a nice start. It is always a fine line to find the right balance when it comes to book one in a series. Do you giveaway a lot or draw it out to tease readers into reading the next book; particularly when the books flow from one to the next. This book can be read as a stand alone novel. So no worries there.

The main character, Sean aka Mick has a really good backstory that lends nicely to this book. So right away I was compassionate to his story. There is a cast of characters in this story. Each one brought something to the story and were just as engaging.

There were moments when the story dipped a slight bit with the pacing. However, I still did find it a fairly fast read. The last several chapters flew by and the story ended with a bang. I will read the next book in this series.

I started this book on a Sunday evening and planned to read a few chapters. At 3am, I put the finished book down. Once I started this suspenseful book, there was no way that I could stop until I read it all. WOW

Sean was a policeman who was injured in an accident after a sniper killed his partner. He left the force and went to the writers retreat run by his sister and her husband to recuperate. The retreat in the beautiful and serene Pacific Northwest helped him heal physically and mentally as he worked as a general handyman. He picks up the four new writers in residence at Sea-Tac airport and is immediately drawn to Emma, a young woman in a wheelchair. The other writers are a psychic, a bitter divorcee and a limo driver from NYC. All four of them are writing books about their experiences in life but in reality, the limo driver is really a criminal who wants to kill Sean and ends up threatening to harm all of the people at the retreat.

This is an unputdownable book that contrasts the beauty of the Pacific Northwest with the terrible thoughts of a serial killer - it contrasts four people who create their worlds with words with someone who creates his world with fear and torture. Clear your calendar before you start this fantastic new thriller. You won't want to put it down until the end.

This is book #1 in a new series and I can't wait to read the next book and read more about Sean McPherson and the writers retreat in Washington.
