Speechless

The intrigue in this one?!?!? Holy titfire. I was told this would knock my socks off and it did an then some. I was leery with the age thing but I need not have been because the suspense and trying to figure out what was going on and who was behind everything had me so engrossed that I'm surprised I remembered to breathe.

It ends on a whopper of a cliffhanger. I need more asap. I hope the book doesn't take long to be released because patience isn't a virtue of mine.… (más)

This series has been one of my favorite discoveries of 2020. I am 100% involved in the outcome of the mysteries that are unfolding and these characters. In the first book, I was worried about the age of the characters but this definitely did not hinder the story. The author was masterful in being able to hone in on the happenings of High School while also making the characters not be TOO immature or mature. I think she is able to do that because of the background of what these characters have been through, and are also currently experiencing, due to what Rogue really is in all of their lives.

The book picks up where the last one left off, and my heart hurt. I felt the emotions in every one of these characters. I loved watching Cy and Saylor grow within their relationship. Again, there were times I completely forgot their age until something in their life environment reminded me of it. The book continues with the mysteries and so many questions are answered. However, just when one mystery is solved another one springs up. There were a couple of them at the end of this book that definitely paved the way for the next book in the series that will star a new main character. I am 100% on board for that book.

My only real complaint was that even though the book paved the way for what is coming, it was just a meh way, in my opinion, to end the duet of Cy and Saylor. I am sure they will be seen again in the future and I hope when they are that I get a better look into their future. Plus side, I loved getting to see a few chapters from Matt's point of view, especially, since he has been so instrumental in this whole story.

#MNGirl was unlike anything I believed that it would be. I didn't spend much time reviewing the book blurb, but I was drawn in by the unique cover and title. I anticipated a sweet high school romance but was delivered such a suspenseful and emotional read. This book set a high bar by bringing such intense action and kept up the breakneck speed nearly from beginning to end.

Saylor's family is new money in a high class world; one she has not settled into well. When news breaks of her father's embezzlement she becomes the school pariah. On her 17th birthday everything changes. Forced into hiding, changing her appearance, her name, and separating from her family, Saylor is thrust into life in the Midwest. Her job is to keep her head down, be no one –– be invisible. But that's hard to do in a small town with purple hair. Especially when you catch the eye of someone like Ciaran. But he doesn't readily accept her into his town. Not with his friends and not in his home.

The amount of emotional heartbreak that Saylor is forced to endure in this book brought me nearly to tears. Isolated in a foreign place and with no one she knows, Saylor is forced to grow up and become a strong and fierce woman. The beauty and pain behind her transformation is both inspiring and gut-wrenching. The undeniable connection between Say and Ci had me yearning for a cease fire while the ending left me with no closure and a desperate need for book two!

From beginning to end A.M. Brooks delivers a fast paced, addicting read that is suspenseful, steamy, and emotional. Pick this book up. Now!… (más)
