God is not mentioned overtly in the Hebrew book of Esther, however, God is referenced, according to Jewish tradition, when the Hebrew text in the word "king" when the title of king is not joined with the name of the Persian king Ahasuerus. Unlike the Hebrew text, the Greek Septuagint version of this writing does make explicit mention of God. The text of Esther uses the word "tree" for gallows. So the genocidal Haman is hung, with his sons, on the "tree" he had prepared for Mordechai.
