After the death of his wife, Peter finds himself without a job, without a way to support his children, and without a plan. Enter his in-laws, whom he's never met, and his wife made him promise to never let the children meet or be around. When his father-in-law offers him a great opportunity, he can't pass it up and finds himself moving him and his children to a dying lumber town to live with his in-laws.
I am a big fan of mystery/thriller/whodunnit type books, and this one did not disappoint me. I did catch on to a few things, and unravel a bit, as I read on, but until the last few chapters wasn't quite sure of anything entirely. When I thought things were going one way, it flipped and went in a different direction. Throwing in unexpected events and little twists, while showing the effects that greed, privledge, abuse and wealth can have on some people, and the lengths they'll go to keep secrets hidden.
