A very good book to get started with Japanese braiding. Most of the book is devoted to variations you can do with the Kongo gumi braiding pattern, a pattern that is simple to do on a card and makes great braids. The instructions are clear and easy to follow.

Some fairly simple braids beyond kongo gumi. There's also lots of good advice packed in too. Not a book to start with.
