Enjoyable, quick whodunnit. Nancy has left plenty of loose strings to pick up just in case this series continues.

An enjoyable read with plenty of red herrings. It took me quite a while to figure out whodunnit. On to #3 of the Judge Jackson Crain series!

I've had this book since 2008, I shouldn't have waited so long to read it! Full characters, good story line and great plot twist! I'll be pulling this series off my shelf and putting them next in line to read.

When Joe Junior McBride, the beloved barber of Post Oak, Texas, is brutally murdered, friend and loyal customer Judge Jackson Crain is as disturbed by the news as everybody else. especially since his own teenage daughter, Patty, is close friends with Joe's daughter, Ashley. The list of suspects is impressive for such a small town: an unhappy second wife, an angry son, a pretty new barbershop assistant and an adoptive brother with secrets.

This was an ok mystery but there wasn't a lot of character development and at least one character who seemed just throw in the story for no particular reason.

I was looking for Texas Gothic. This is not Texas Gothic.

The mystery hung together, but the characters are shallow, stereotypes and bigots. I'm still not sure why I finished it. I think I was waiting for somone to say that's racist, knock it off.

I usually love Nancy Bell's mysteries, both the Biggie series and this series, but this particular book fell flat for me and I struggled to get through it. It just didn't hold my interest for some reason.

A cute little mystery with a good puzzle that unwinds an old and well-hidden family secret that continues to cause trouble for generations to come.

This was a pretty good book. I have been reluctant to read this series since I had enjoyed her previous series and was upset that she discontinued it in favor of this series. I apologize. This, the first book in the Judge Crain Series had all the humor of the Biggy series and the mystery was very good.

I love this series! Biggie makes me laugh. Maybe it's because I used to live in a small town in Texas, I find these characters very true to life. A great series and I loved this one!
