My interest in 18th century French history and 21st century anime & manga have merged in the series "Chevalier d'Eon", and prompted me to pick up this memoir of the real-life Charles d'Eon de Beaumont - a man pretending to be a woman who had pretended to be a man...

It's an intersting subject. However, even though it is a short work (approx. 200 pages), I found it slow going. I'm afraid it will be little more than a fannish curiosity for me.
