Report for Duty tells the story of John Witmer who, in 1918 refused to wear the uniform of the United States Army. Witmer, a Mennonite, was a Conscientious Objector, although he never officially reached that status.

Tormented by others at Camp Sherman, Witmer held fast to his beliefs. He died 32 days after reporting to camp.

While the story is short and can be read in one day, the writer packs a lot into a few pages. I found myself unable to put this book down. The writing is often stiff but well worth the read.… (más)
