Second, there is a reason that romance novels use formulas. Elizabeth believes that Andrew is married. Rather than just asking him, she spends all of her time wishing he would kiss her. So he finally does kiss her, and she STILL doesn't ask if he's married. She just goes home and goes on and on about how she can feel him touching her all over, blah, blah, blah. In a regular fiction book, particularly in a drama, this situation would not be out of place. In a romance, if the heroine thinks the hero is married, she avoids him until she discovers (usually in a spectacularly embarrassing fashion) that he is not married.
I REALLY tried to keep reading. I wanted to find out what was going on and how things would work out between Elizabeth, Andrew, and James, which was why I kept reading through the bad editing. But I couldn't get past the whole "married" thing. Elizabeth is a vapid doormat, and I don't have time for that.… (más)
