Heidi Logan Barbara Purves, and Skip Marcella

Here's why we need work like this: I work with the third author, Skip, and we do speech therapy and record stuff in his voice and I think he is a downright amazing individual with all kinds of cool surprises and resources and I am privileged to know him. And yet I still managed, initially, to forget to include him as one of the authors of this paper. And that is just fucking stupid of me and is testimony to the fact that we need to keep thinking about the loss of voice, and what that means to our concept of self, and how to reclaim the hurt parts of our selfhood after an traumatic accident in meaningful ways. The work that Barbara and Heidi did with Skip, which I have been privileged to continue, recording important texts in his own voice, is an important gesture in that direction. Aphasiology.… (más)
