Book Title: Whiskey And Suicide: And other stories
Author: Manik Bal
Format: Kindle

Book Title:
The title of the book ' Whiskey and Suicide ' is interesting and novel.

Book Cover:
The book's cover image is a man standing on the edge of a high-raised place that correctly explains the title.

My review:
This book by author Manik Bal is a bouquet of feelings. Every story describes the new face of a person's life. The realistic and traditional story-telling reminded me of some famous Telugu authors like Yuddhanapudi Sulochana Rani and KoKu. They were famous for showcasing the middle-class life in our country. Reading this book at these times is nostalgic.

What I like:
1. The honest writing
2. The emotional quotient in every story
3. The multi-faceted life of an Indian in India
4. The middle-class life memories and struggles
5. Life and emotional crisis

What I didn't like:
There is nothing to dislike.

Characters:
Every story has one character with which a reader resonates with one's own life. As the stories are set up in the Indian cities, the places, the incidents and the people are much relatable.

Narration:
The narrative in which each story is illustrated summarizes the writing and narration skills of the author. The intrinsic details and warming story-telling brings the readers closer to the stories.

Language & Grammar:
Easy and simple English language is used in the book. Every short story has relevance to a place or person or even feeling that a reader will identify with.

My Final Verdict:
A garland of emotions and life!

My Thoughts:
This is the second book from the Author this year I have read, and I must admit, I liked this book. While in his previous book, the story also talked about life and emotions but was a collection of short stories, this book is an inspiring journey of a struggling artist. The mere mentions of Bollywood, music, Mumbai and many such words made the reading relatable.

What to expect from the story?
The story is about the pain and struggles an artist experiences while trying to make it in the world. The story is inspiring and hopeful. There is love, there is emotion, and there is the whole life.

Who can read?
The book is all about life's journey, dealing with emotional and personal setbacks and most of all, having hope for a bright future. As the book is written in accessible language, readers of any age who are into general fiction can read this.

How good are the characters?
The story has two central characters, Shourav and Shoubhik, that are realistic, honest, and evolving. As the story progresses, the characters develop and mature, thus making the story enjoyable. What stands out is the involvement of the famous yesteryear's artist Van Gogh and his brother. As I want to maintain my review as a spoiler-free one, I restrain myself from spilling out more beans about the characters.

How good is the narration?
The narration of any good story lies in its narration. In the same manner, in this story, the relationship between humans and art is narrated uniquely and attractively. The journey of a person from a small town where humanity and love persist in every soul to a vast city like Mumbai through humanity exists, time and busy schedules kill the lives, the struggle to prove successful and bring glory in life and the hope one person keeps throughout the path of life is explained well.

How good are the language and grammar?
Simple and easy English language is used in the book. This simplicity gives the readers access to the characters instantly.

How good is the Author's writing style?
This is probably my third book by author Manik Bal. His writing skills reflect realistic emotions and relatable feelings that every human in daily life encounters.

How entertaining is the book?
With a good story and thoughtful emotions, the story is quite entertaining.

Final Verdict
An interesting story about relationships and emotions

Rating:
3/5
