It's worth noting that all sock patterns in this book are for worsted-weight wool and not fingering (the so-called "sock yarn"). Thus they are thicker, warmer, sturdier, cushier, and take up more room in a boot than most socks. Also, they knit up more quickly.

If you've loved the Philosopher's Wool sweater patterns and their color combinations, but been afraid to try your hand at a whole sweater, here's a great idea to try--just knit socks. Working socks up in worsted (medium) weight yarns means a quickly finished, beautiful project. You can use this book to finish off scraps from your stash, play with color, or just get warm feet.
