Dear [b:See Me|13553556|See Me|Pauline Allan|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1332214873s/13553556.jpg|19122676],

I've had you on my shelf for months and I've regret not dusting you off earlier. It's just that after reading you, I hate to say this but this seems to be a case of It's not you, it's me." I know, I know. It's such a paltry cop out. But it is what it is.

I guess other readers will enjoy the hell out of you and I will never talk bad about the time we spent together, it's just that when something's not right, I just...I have to call it like it is.

You tried so hard and you have some good qualities about you like the main characters and secondary characters were nice people with some decent backgrounds. I always love reading about ex-con heroes that make good in their life. And hey, the hot gay best friend, Ron and his partner Eric? I'm a girl who enjoys man-on-man love and love to see it even if it's not a main part of the book (though I wish it was) But it's not about my needs here.

This is about why we didn't fully get one another, why it didn't really work for me.

The abused heroine? Love reading about women who persevere through hardships. It's just that Abigail as a heroine, she was a tad weak. *holds up hands* Just hear me out okay. After being abused for years and sort of overcoming it, her choice of hero, Sean, who is a likable guy I guess and I'd probably hang out and knock back a beer or two with him but not take him home, he was a bit controlling. And I don't think he's who I'd overall set Abigail up with.

But apparently Abigail liked it, so what do I know.

Then, there's her whining about not being attractive because she's fluffy...I get it. She's insecure. But after Sean clearly stated he likes big girls and clearly set out other issues or requests that he had, Abigail always second guessed him. It was a little frustrating.

I think the entire conundrum is that it felt like Abigail spoke Finnish, Sean spoke Greek and I'm speaking English and there's nary a translator around, you know? We just didn't connect.

And the few times that Sean and Abigail did seem to find a Finnish-Greek dictionary and spoke with one another instead of at each other, Abigail or Sean does something to put them back at square one.

So I'm not going to talk about some things I had to suspend reality for (A novice killing a man with their first shot? Really?). We'll keep it between the two of us. The sex scenes were hot and that's always a plus, right? I want to end this on a positive note.

So I'm rating it 2.75 STARS but I'll round it up to 3 STARS.

Just...take care. Alright? Best of luck.

Sincerely,

Me

P.S. You're pretty and those jeans do not make you look fat."
