Parts of this we're fantastic and other parts didn't work for me. I did, however, enjoy the characters and their connection. I liked the premise if the story but wanted certain areas fleshed out more.

Twisted by A J Adams
Zeta Cartel # 5

Dark and twisted just as a Zeta Cartel romance is expected to be...loved Persia and Jorge and enjoyed seeing how they worked toward their eventual HEA in spite of the rough beginning.

Persia York puts her family before everyone and everything...even to her own detriment. She feels an obligation to them for having adopted her though they probably don’t deserve her at all. Jorge Santos also puts his family, the Zeta cartel, first and as the head of their business in London has been tasked with a huge job and not given the men he needs to accomplish the goal. The first meeting of Jorge with Persia is not pleasant and assumptions are made by both of them. Persia won’t give an inch and has pluck aplenty even when she finds herself in dire straits. Jorge wants respect and isn’t getting it from Persia and that tends to make his temper flare. The two do dance around one another for awhile as they get to know one another and eventually….after a LOT happens….those first assumptions change and feelings grow. It was a roller coaster ride of a tale that included murder, mayhem, vengeance, drugs, violence, turf war, friendship, family and a romance like no other.

What I liked:
* Persia’s pluck and fortitude and her ability to overcome the odds
* Jorge’s desire to do well. I also enjoyed watching him realize that Persia was the one for him.
* The camaraderie between Jorge and his men
* The friendship Persia had with her model friendship
* The bad guys getting their comeuppance

What I did not like:
* The bad guys...and there were a few of them
* The way Persia’s family treated her

This book is and is not an easy read. If you like a dark gritty tale then you will love this book...if not...stay away ;)

Thank you to the author for the ARC – This is my honest review.

Ruthless Sinner by AJ Adams
A Zeta Cartel Novel #6

Compelling story that left me flipping pages as quickly as possible as I eagerly read each word to find out what would happen next. I love this author’s glimpse into a life I would never personally enter but thoroughly enjoy hearing about and enjoying vicariously.

With a gritty beginning I was hooked as I met Coop and those he was with. I was grateful he survived and then managed to thrive as he moved forward in life. Meeting Spirit was interesting…a “naughty” girl with a heart of gold and, in the end, a perfect partner for Coop just as he was for her.

What I liked:
* The unflinching look at child slave labor
* Coop: strong, silent, lethal, scarred and yet still able to care and see his own version of right and wrong
* Spirit: strong, resilient, positive, caring – despite what happened in her life
* Seeing old friends from the Zeta Cartel
* Rip’s look-see to help Coop and the Zeta team find The Torturer
* That there were few hints prior to the unveiling of The Torturer’s identity
* Being reminded that no matter what a person may suffer it does not have to define them
* Realizing how resilient some people truly are
* That love can thrive in the darkest times
* That the bad guys were dealt with
* Pretty much all of it…

What I did not like:
* The treatment of Spirit by more than one person in the story
* The treatment of Cooper, Thando and those he was with in the beginning
* Having to say goodbye at the end of the book

Did I enjoy this book? Yes
Would I read more by this author? Definitely

Thank you to the author for the ARC – This is my honest review.

All Screwed Up by AJ Adams

Bonnington, England is on the coast, has its own lord with an estate, and is run pretty much by The Disciples Motor Cycle Club. Most people in the town find that things run smoothly and go well…most of the time…and are pleased with the status quo. The truce between two MC clubs has kept it peaceful for a few years but that is all about to change.

In this story we meet Lacy Desire, adult model, who ends up in hot water with her young daughter, Mia. She leaves an abusive photographer behind and runs for her life only to find herself in jail in Bonnington. With an idea in mind she heads off to see the lord – Rex Winslow – to seek his protection. She has a tidbit of information she is sure can bend him to her will. Well, Things do not go smoothly and friction rasps between Lacy and Rex like rough for the first part of the book.

With Lacy looking for someone to solve her problems, an evil guy with a competitive MC club lending him support in his effort to get Lacy back, a lot going on in the lives of The Disciples, events that bring money in being sabotaged, a counterfeiter causing inroads in income, jealous women lurking in corners, big money deals and Bonnington to protect AND a doofus of a new head of police just taking position in Bonnington the situation is ripe for disasters. To top it off The Horde – MC are planning a hostile takeover of Bonnington. An MC war is brewing and all Lacy wants is to get her ex off her back and go back to work in safety with her.

The alpha men of The Disciples MC are tough with hearts that are tender when it comes to women and children. They love a good fight and fear nothing. They are smart, ruthless and can plot like generals. And, I would love to read books about Crush, Viper and the others as they find the women that will make their own lives more interesting while providing what they don’t realize they are missing.

If you haven’t read book one, Helpless, with Fracas and Caden taking center stage it won’t be a problem BUT I really enjoyed that book and there is information in it that might help a wee bit with this book or at least give background on The Disciples MC.

Thank you to the author for the ARC – This is my honest Review.
